Main issue, factory construction and build out was severely delayed during the middle of pandemic. The tops you saw were built at the facility R&D was done at. Never meant to be a production facility it has become. The MI facility is going through startup pains and labor shortages.
The top Ford designed is complicated a d is proving to be hard to manufacture.

This is where that email could have been a lot more transparent. All we’ve heard about these tops are: late availability 2021 mod tops => free headliners 🤔 => mod tops and body colored tops to 2022 => no dual tops => and now apparently very few if any MIC tops at all.

At some point they need to be more specific about what the problem is. Sure sounds to me like it is getting progressively worse, not better.

Haven't read back thru this thread but YES, leaks has been my speculation too.

Will be lots of drive thru car washes during warranty period of my June 28 production bronco!
Original Bronco had HORRIBLE water leaks. Maybe someone at Ford remembers, and does not want to repeat?

I’ve seen every episode of How It’s Made so obviously I’m an expert 😀, so what is the issue with Webasto exactly?

Best I can tell, the manufacturing process for a hard goes like so:

1. Press button to inject hot soft plastic into molder
2. Press button when hard top is formed-hard top ejects
3. Small crew removes flashing and blemishes from hard top
4. Small crew adds plumbing and electrical for window washer
5. Throw in windows. Done.

Why isn’t Webasto churning out like 1200 of these every day??
From what I gather, it's a whole different process because it's a different type of roof. Instead of a one layer type roof, it's 2 layers with a honeycomb sandwiched between for insulation and sound deadening purposes. New type roof, new process, new manufacturing bugs to work out.

They've known about hard top demand for almost a year, so I have my doubts. As soon as I saw the rear wiper hookups in the Road show demo vehicles that were sporting soft tops, my first reaction was I bet those suckers were leaking and they swapped them out.

Haven’t you folks heard of duct tape? Sheesh, it’s a non issue 😉
That's how we used to fix the leaky tops on our military M998 HMMWVs. 🙃

My guess is quality control issues are still happening.

Call? Call?! I'm headed out there this weekend to inspect the facilities and picket/protest on their doorstep. Who's with me?

I don't know who, but SOMEONE has to suffer for this. It can't only fall on us customers. I'd say remove Webasto from the vendor list. Find someone else. Excuses are like buttholes.
