What's the practice on tipping Off-Roadeo guides?

I took my bartender buddy out to Moab. We had such a great timed we tipped both instructors $20. Our day was the night after rain and we covered our badlands top to bottom. So before leaving I found the detail guy and gave him $20 also. He said he had 3 groups of 10 Broncos to clean by the next day. 30 mud covered rigs for one guy just seemed cruel! Worth every penny!

Good point, that’s exactly why it never even crossed my mind. I don’t tip people with careers (seems belittling, frankly), I tip people with jobs. These folks all have built careers already.

Our guide exceeded our expectations going above and beyond what was needed.

I couldn't imagine walking out the door without acknowledging his hard work with a decent tip.

Wishing now I had been as thoughtful of the detailer as mentioned in another response above.

Do you tip lawyers? Doctors? Where do you draw the line? Honestly, it’s kind of smug to tip like the fairy blessing all the little people and really it’s just self-serving.

Never crossed my mind and I wouldn’t consider doing it in the future however, during my trip in the Texas heat during August one of my guides said how thirsty he was so I gave him one of my electrolyte packages for his water bottle.

I do not understand your perspective, but if it works for you, it works for you and others who feel the same.

In my experience, people in jobs like the Bronco guides are typically tipped if they do an excellent job.
