One of my biggest pet peeves, and why I look at anything pre-00 for the most part, is that in most vehicles these days, Speedometers are white lit.

IMG_20200817_192012.jpg

(Case in point, was at a Red light as well when I took it)

Off the top of my head, I know Nissan with the 350/370z, BMW until recently and older Subarus were Amber/Red, and when you get a Premium Mustang, you get MyColor, which let's you configure the colors.

Why isn't that universal across the board, why can't I choose to have an orange colored Speedo in my Bronco if I custom order it instead of the standard Blanco?

Just a rant, and I'm sure there's a reasonable but unsatisfactory answer to the question.

Thanks for taking a look,

Rogue

Just so we're all on the same page here, you posted a picture of your odometer, not speedometer....

Please clarify which part of the gauge your concern is about. Or if you would like all text across all gauges to be user selected?

There are other examples, and I just pulled that one quickly earlier

As you can see, all the lettering is white when in the Z above or E46, bulbs are colored

YES

Dash backlighting should be a slightly blueish green, with reddish orange needles and idiot lights. There is no other appropriate color.

Like my ZJ (random internet picture for reference):

The Zonda F has the PERFECT gauge cluster backlight color, too. It's like ice green.

Perhaps it solves the color blindness issue many people have?
Or the same people who call Cyber Orange Orange are behind it

I prefer Red and Orange, but still better choices than generic white

Gotta check out the Zonda now.

Also wish I knew soldering, I'd change the led bulbs out myself

Hear Mike Levine is here, so we might as well ask for MyColor for the Bronco's, as they're the offroad Mustang

Also, the electroluminescent displays from early 60's Chryslers. My friend has a '62(?) Imperial and the dash is GORGEous (again, not pictured, but similar):

It's hard to find a good picture of the Zonda dash at night. It's a bit much for some people but I love it. Especially the F.

Wait, BMW clusters don't light up orange anymore?

I'm going to feel seriously messed up if that's true and I learned it on a bronco forum

That's a massive cultural shift if true

Many look white during day, but orange at night

Sure, it's a trivial issue to some, but when you're driving at night, some colors make all the difference.

Still wonder why we can't custom order certain colors, or get a MyColor system, would be nice

I think on non-m's they're still orange, just I know on the last Gen M5, they switched

Breaks my cold dead heart tbh.

As I mentioned above as well, on a WRX/STI, they're white now instead of Red, which makes me a Sad Panda

There has to be someone who can solder in Red LEDs for me, I hate white (it's pure white in person)
