I just use it on steep hills (have an auto).

For my manuals, I use it every time as well as popping it into 1st or reverse (depending) - unless I'm in my garage. Then it's just neutral and parking brake.

Only in Emergencies. (joke)

It's a parking brake. Use it when parking.

I have a 7 spd, I (we) set the brake EVERY time I (we) get out.

Possibly not as important with the auto trans unless you are parking on an incline.
Many folks from hilly areas will chime in about how weak the parking pawl is on any automatic. Don't trust it, set the parking brake.

The ideal set up is to set the brake and point the wheels towards a safe direction if it were to roll.
In town, point them towards the curb,
On the trail, away from the cliff ....

At the Offrodeo they asked everyone to set the park brake every time before you shifted into park to save the parking pawl and for safety. It would have been nice to have the switch next to the shifter like in my wife's Lexus. I'm looking into relocating it. Jim.

I received the same message from the Off roadeo I attended and do this as well. Auto transmission.

On a manual, every time I park. On an auto, usually just on hills but I could see an argument as above) to always use it.

Don’t they teach this in driving class anymore?

I use the parking brake anytime I park, even in my garage.
I come to a stop, and while still holding the foot brake, I'll engage the parking brake.
Once engaged, I release the brake pedal, and put the transmission in park.

I like to let the brakes hold the vehicle, not the transmission.
Plus, it feels smoother when I go to put it back in gear, but that could be placebo. 🧐

At least in Texas, they really don’t teach driving anymore. It’s online and then up to parents (Most of whom don’t seem to have been taught).

Is it different now that it's merely electronic? Or are there still cables like the old days, which are prone to degradation and corrosion used or not?

I don't trust all the electronic wizardry or lack thereof and this e-brake thing seems super prone to failure....

It's a Parking Brake, as there isn't IMHO an Emergency Brake on the Bronco.

Use it whenever you've parked your Bronco.

Only when your trying to jump a creek bed or to out run a police officer that is driving a jeep. Otherwise stay away.

I rarely bark, but when I do it's always uphill.

Sorry. Couldn't resist.

I tend to use the parking brake only on inclines. Right, wrong, or whatever. It's worked for me with every auto I've driven since Moby Dick was a minnow. Manuals -always when parked.
