Where are the aftermarket roof racks?

4 wheel parts had prototypes as of March '21 for a soft top roof rack solution, but not sure how far along they've gotten in actually reaching a production worthy model.

I believe I read somewhere that 4wp was not really investing in creating that rack at the moment.

I guess maybe I should have looked closer at my soft top. It was just an idea and I did no real research haha. Just spit balling here, I would guess Ford did not build two different bodies for hard top and soft top, would it be possible to just use the hardtop mounting location for my "mock" roof rack?

Yeah, they are the same. I just don't know if you could bolt something there between the mounting points and the hard top or soft top. Someone will figure it out.

It won't fit if you move the middle crossbar to the front?

Moving the middle to the front and the crossbars are too far apart. It only actually works if the crossbar is in the middle position. But that leaves the front unsupported. I am thinking of buying a crossbar and drilling my own holes for it to support the rack or just moving the one crossbar to a better position and drilling.

Ah. Well, damn.

Was it the K platform that came with the crossbar mounts in the original Ford listings? I remember one came with crossbar mounts and one came with rail mounts but I can't remember which one was which, B or K.

so it was the large, the K that had rail mounts. But I have a screenshot of that - it is taken from the Yakima site, and they are actually referring to the perimeter rails and not the rack itself. It was the wrong description all along. not sure how this was in the catalog.

So to recap the large rack does not fit the same as it is shown in the Ford accessories. Since the rails cannot be spread forward the rack is unsupported in the front and moves around too much.

SEMA is here and yet it doesn’t seem that the aftermarket companies have been doing much in term of roof racks?

MY22 is around the corner and anyone like me getting a Badlands 4D 2.7 is screwed with 0 option, impossible to purchase from the factory and nothing from the aftermarket. I bought the bronco as an overland vehicle but not able to put anything on the roof so far is frustrating

I am glad i found this thread as i am purchasing the Black Diamond 4D - i really could not understand the limiting factor of the engine size for external factory available Mods on the Badlands.
When I ordered the Black Diamond, I upgraded to the 2.7L AND added the Sasquatch pkg, the website allows me to keep the roof rails with the hard top - which is basically the same vehicle as the Badlands.

Must be a glitch in the web site because this makes NO sense.

FWIW I ordered a SAS BD and could not put roof racks on it. Unless something changed for MY22, I'd expect the same...?
