2024 Badlands 4 Door with HD modular bumper. Mostly for back country roads. What fog lights do you have and what is your honest opinion of them? Where did you get them? Are they too bright? Not bright enough? Do I need to add washers to direct the light up or down? Do they fill with water? I have been looking to add fog lights, there are so many options. Reading reviews on some of the lighting options makes it very confusing. Some look nice but then when reading the reviews they are so up and down from very positive to very negative. Some are too bright some not bright enough. Some say they don't last more than a few months, or they are not really waterproof.

First things first, do you really want fog lights or lights that fit in that location to light up the darkness ?

Street legal fogs are very different than what most people are putting in that location of the mod bumper.

I have the Rigid triple lights setup with the amber backlights,
Link to see: My set up and notes
which I believe are very good quality that will last, but by no means should they be used with on coming traffic as fog lights. They are more like super high beams that really light up what's in front of you. great for back country roads I also added the Ford Performance Rigid ditch lights for lighting up the sides, great for spotting deer at night on back roads.

I got mine at @SPVPARTS. They sell custom brackets and harnesses for whatever your needs are with lots of different light set ups.

If you feel it's worth the money spend it for quality and piece of mind, and of course lumens and sight patterns.

The flip side, which is still a very legitimate way to go is, Amazon lower budget lights. People here give mixed reviews on them, but you can save a lot of money, and that's not a bad thing. You can pick up budget lights and replace them several times if something goes wrong and still be ahead of the game financially. Especially if you're only keeping your Bronco for a few years.

Lots to think about, lots of different looks, and use cases, find what works for you.

Edit to show difference, as you can see, they really light things up, but not for use with oncoming traffic...

I'm running the DD SS3 MAX fogs and love them. They are expensive but after looking at different beam patterns/mfg's, they were what I needed where I live now. By that I mean we have fog, like this morning where I can see across the street but when I lived in CA we had tule fog where visibality at times was less than 50 ft. If I was still there I would have went with the Baja Design in amber for a sharper cut-off and less reflection.

All that said, I spent two months looking at vid's of various lights, beam patters, brightness, etc. and went with DD MAX because of their output and sharp cut-off. Very bright, and a wider pattern than BD's which is what I wanted for my conditions. Yours will vary :)

For the money - and ease of install - I think this is a better solution from @MandRautomotive
Also available for Mod Bumper and available with Yellow/White combo. Lots of Light.

I had Baja Designs on my Bronco, and loved them!

First time installing an amber fog light on a vehicle, and was quite impressed on the difference it made in low visibility driving, such as fog, rain, and snow. I had the amber on one AUX switch, and the other two on another AUX switch. Would do it again for sure.

After spending time researching many options, I narrowed it down to Baja Design or Diode Dynamics. Both quality light manufacturers. I went with DD because of their option to have an amber back light and a brighter output per $.

A good resource is the the team at 4x4 Truck LEDs in Long Island are a great source of knowledge and options as they carry various lights from different leading manufacturers.
I purchased my lights form them as they also include customized wiring harnesses that simplifies the DIY installation. (https://www.4x4truckleds.com/)

Installed DD lights:
SS3 Max - White Combo 7, (Aux 2 – Inside placement)
SS3 Pro - Yellow SAE Fog (Aux 3 – Center Placement)
SSC2 Pro - White SAE Fog (Aux 4 – Outside Placement)

Don’t have a “mod” bumper but do have DD SAE pro clear fogs in the bumper and am very happy with them…bright wide beam with sharp cutoff…also have DD SAE pro driving pods on the “bull bar” to really light up the night farther ahead…

I have the same setup as DriveAllNight above (3 Rigid Radiance pods from SPV). I really like them, but if I could do it again I would go with Diode Dynamics. Only because their backlights are brighter and more solid than the Rigid Radiance backlights, which are more of a back “glow” than full back “light”.

Just my opinion, no fog lights are the best. The modular bumper looks great clean and fog lights do little to help with actual fog.

I’m going to respectfully disagree with that comment. That’s like saying DRL serve no purpose. They’re an option for a reason, and the lower the light the more useful they are in cutting through the fog. Hence why high beams are awful in the fog.

I wish North American vehicles were required to have rear fog lights, such as in other countries.

I wonder why they use Candela instead of Lumen?
Candela is a obsolete rating as they all have different ways to measure their candela while Lumens are exact in the ratings?

Verdict
Lumens are more commonly used than candela because they are easier to measure and understand.

Candela can be more difficult to measure because it requires taking into account the solid angle of the light beam and has less of a universal application to the majority of everyday lighting choices that people make.

Another thread.

Same answer: @Diode Dynamics you pick what you like and how much to spend. These are GREAT lights, much brighter than the stock headlights. Amber is best. Super quality, super bright, reasonably priced, built in 'Merica.

Most folks will say Baja Designs are the highest quality, and Diode Dynamics are most light for the money. But it's a very competitive market, with no small amount of well earned brand loyalty in there, and there are a lot of good players in it.

And has been noted - not all, probably most, are ~not~ street legal. Street legal options definitely exist, from pretty much all the vendors, but You have to do a bit of research if you are wanting to run them full time. The ones that typically make it on the front page of the advert or default option in the shopping cart are going to be the ultra-bright not-necessarily-street-legal options because they have bigger numbers.

Do NOT get Oracle lights. They have been terrible. Bought them early because they fit into the slot well. They take on water and fog (No unintended) poorly and the lights fog up continuously. In their defense I suppose they have replaced them several times, but I am on my 3rd or 4th set.
