Seems like employment would be a consideration. Red states don’t take kindly to blue state bums. ?

What industry are you in?

Realistically, any city OTHER than Austin in Texas should scratch that red itch you got.

The Humidity thing..... Pretty difficult to get heat without humidity outside of Nevada. Aren't they a red state? Just don't live in Las Vegas or Reno and you should be good!

You can't avoid politics. All you can do is find a place that values individual hard work and doesn't try to take what's yours. Wyoming would be high on my list if I was relocating.

As it is I'm looking at buying lake front property in rural Arkansas where I can be for the most part left alone to my own devices.

Guess I'm talking more "Where can I avoid a seemingly normal person whose actually batshit crazy" kinda politics, as there's the difference between having a disagreement if we debate and walk away and "I might get assaulted or Doxxed", which basically means let's avoid big cities

Always did wanna visit West Texas now, and see some of Nevada, visit Vegas just for the sake of it.

For ME, there is no quality of life living in a city. To me, about as big a town as I want to live in is around 5K with access to a city of around 40-50K. Rural living is even better. Less people means less run ins with crazy people. There's still crazy people in the country, just less of them. I can't imagine wanting to live in some of the cesspools of this country.

Correct, Pikes Peak in the background and Garden of the Gods in the foreground.
Ah, did not recognize Garden of the Gods.

Just relocated from Florida to Montana last year and I love it so far. Humidity is way lower and traffic is basically non-existent compared to what we're used to. I'm the same distance form work as I was in Florida but it's only 5 minutes to commute as opposed to 20. I really miss those Florida "winters" but eventually I'll get used to real winters again. We really enjoy being in a more rural area, too.

We looked at Colorado but we didn't like the cost of living. There seemed to be plenty of red places to go as well as blue there, but the cost was just too much for us. We also didn't really want to be in a state where one large metro area was able to dominate most of the states politics to pull it far one way or the other. Perhaps our outside perspective in that regard is wrong but that was how we perceived it.

I lived in CDA, Idaho when I was younger and really enjoyed it. I'm under contract where I currently work but I am considering going back to Idaho at some point. Winters were never too harsh and summers were great, made it really enjoyable to be outside doing stuff. It was a good small town atmosphere and if you really needed more city amenities, Spokane wasn't that far of a drive, about 30 minutes or so. Maybe we'll just move further west in MT, more into the mountains. I like the mountains.

I love Texas, but I hate humidity

Easy, stay out of Houston. The rest of the major metroplexs are not that humid. And there are several places out in West Texas that never even heard of humidity. No state income tax, best BBQ there is, open carry and some of the friendliest people you will ever meet. Come on down.

I'm not involved in your politics, if I was I would be blue, but I love West Texas. It would be high on my list of places to live in the US.

Well, I'll come down after the Quarantine's lifted, more for my gf's sake as she can't afford to be out of work for two weeks, while I'd just ignore them... Unless I drive down, then Dallas, here I come!
