I have been racking my brain and going crazy to find and resolve the whistling noise in my 21 Badlands. It happens in strong crosswinds and when it’s below 40F. To make a very long story short I believe the spare tire delete is the cause of this issue. The DV8 and other delete parts seal the vehicle too well. It covers the louvers with the one way rubber flaps that open outwards. In the factory set up the pressure in the cabin forces the rubber flaps open. With the spare tire delete the air takes the path of least resistance which is the window seals and hard top.
I’m not sure what to do since I have a hitch mount mountain bike rack that works great with the spare tire delete. It also reduces the weight on the rear for my square drop camper that has a heavy tongue weight. I mount my spare on my roof rack when out adventuring.
Additionally I deleted the rear wiper. I took the plug out to allow air to vent and it had a slight improvement in the whistling.
Do I put the factory spare tire back on for the winter and get a different MTB rack? I find the whistling extremely annoying to the point I was looking at trading in for a new one. Recommendations?
