Wear and tear on the engine, if you forget to turn it off, next thing you know, car dies at the light and the AC that's already not enough for the sweltering summer heat goes

Also, just a PITA, period

Installed the AutoStop Eliminator in about 10 minutes yesterday....works as advertised. All I did was remove the console top panel using the Trim Tools from WalMart.com for about $7. Start on the passenger side rear corner with the very thin plastic tool, prying up until you can get a wider and thicker tool under the panel..you will hear a pop as the first retainer detaches...work across the back edge toward the drivers side of the panel...more popping sounds...now work your way down the passenger side and drivers side of the panel, gently lifting as you go using the console side panel edge as leverage. The top panel will now be loose and you can access the gang of switches in which the Stop/Start disable switch is located. Use your fingers to detach the left side of the gang of switches and a long flat blade srewdriver to do the same for the right side...the switches will pop up from the panel to allow disconnection of the wiring harness and installation of the AutoStop Eliminator. Snap the switches back home in the panel and snap the panel back down in the console ....Done! Note that you do not have to use much force to pop the panel loose from the console.

Is this your experience? Just curious - I've never driven a car with stop-start.

Well...before auto S/S German law required the 3rd car & back to turn off the engine at red lights. So, I assume the automated process began there and migrated.

I was just messing around and built a 2dr JL Rubicon, let's examine the packages and cross out what I wouldn't automatically get:

8.4-Inch Radio and Premium Audio Group
$1,695
  • 4G LTE Wi-Fi Hot Spot
  • Automatic High-Beam Headlamp Control
  • 8.4-Inch Touchscreen Display
  • Alpine® Premium Audio System
  • Emergency / Assistance Call
  • GPS Navigation
  • HD™ Radio
  • Rear View Auto-Dimming Mirror
  • SiriusXM Guardian™ Connected Services w/1-Yr Trial
  • SiriusXM® Traffic Plus
  • 5-Year SiriusXM® Traffic™ Service
  • SiriusXM® Travel Link
  • 5-Year SiriusXM® Travel Link Service
  • Uconnect® 4C NAV with 8.4-Inch Display.
Cold Weather Group
$695
  • Heated Front Seats
  • Heated Steering Wheel
LED Lighting Group
$1,045
  • Daytime Running Lamp LED Accents
  • Front LED Fog Lamps
  • LED Reflector Headlamps
  • LED Tail Lamps
Maybe comparing it to a Rubi isn't the best idea, could compare it to a similar ford, but...
I get your point but a heated steering wheel is life changing, lol. I love when I hit my remote start a few minutes before I leave the house and when I get in my car my seats and steering wheel are toasty

Ever just turn on a car w/out starting it, how it feels?

I was exaggerating a bit, but same thing

Take it from an engineer, wear and tear is aproblem with start/stop tech. and always will be. Yeah, they can dothings to make the engine last longer, but those same things done to an engine without it will laster significantly even longer. There is literally nothing you can do to an engine with start/stop that will make it last as long as an engine without it with the same things done (excepting engines that sit at idle for a large (>10%) of their life, like police cars for example)
