So who here has figured out the best way to open the tailgate from inside the truck? Say when sleeping or camping in it. Isn't there an emergency release inside the plastic cover? Has anyone modded one with a handle? What is everyone doing for this? Thanks in advance.

Just thinking of this! Going to Colorado sleeping in the back. Would like an out if a critter blocks the way out from the front!

That's pretty elaborate...and obvious for anyone peeking in. I'll likely open that up and attach some sort of cord/cable and try to not be obvious...still can't believe that it's even legal to not have easy access? I mean they have to have them in trunks, right? Why not here?

I just found this thread. I looked at the latch over the weekend. I did figure out how it operates. When I have time, I am going to mock up a replacement for the plastic panel before making and permanent mods to that panel.

Well,..... in a trunk you may actually be really stuck. In a Bronco you are not stuck. It would be very similar to sitting in the back seat of a two door unit. You shove the passenger seat forward, open the door and get out.

If you have a MIC top.... simply tap on the window 3 times, if someone doesn't respond. Keeping knocking.... someone will show up.

In s soft top.... just yell till help arrives.
