Just curious mainly because I'm bored who is switching to standard 35 x 12.50s once your 315s are worn?

And no not 37s. You don't count. I don't want to hear about it. So don't say 37s.?

I don't need or want 315's. That's one reason I'm staying awy from the WT. I'll stick with my 33's so I don't get 16 mpg.

Who knows? They are close enough that everyone calls the 315s 35s...so whatever tire I decide I want in 4 years or so will get whatever size in the 35/315 class is available.

Either I don’t understand the question or you don’t understand that 315s are 35s.
Oh, and I actually do plan to move up to 37s. Sorry.

I plan on going to 37s eventually as well. But 315 and 35s are different. 35s are Slightly bigger and a standard size vs metric. So I do understand.

How are 315s the same as 35s

Isn't 315 a width, and 35 a diameter?

So couldn't you have a 315 that was smaller or larger that 35 because of wheel size and aspect ratio?

I know tires, but I don't know crap about the off road segment of the market so sorry if this is a dumb question

Edit. Duh you guys are taking about the specific 315s stock on bronco, nevermind

go to tire rack and compare the same tire in 35x12.5 vs 315/70/17.

Height difference 34.5 vs 34.4
Section width and tread width are slight larger on the 315.

Well that settles it. You don’t understand and apparently you won’t except feedback or be corrected.

Lets use 315/70-17 as an example.

Tread width is 315mm
Sidewall height = 70% of treadwidth or 315 x .7 = 220.5mm
Rim diameter = 17"

Overall diameter = Rim diameter + sidewall height + sidewall height (but be careful of units)

= 17" + (220.5mm +220.5mm)/25.4
= 17" + 17.36"
= 34.36"

315’s on the bronco are 35’s
But, they are not true 35s because 315s are 34.4 inches tall, 12.5 inches wide. If i get 35s I want true to size 35s like a Nitto Ridge Grappler which is an X/T tire in 35X12.5R17. Don't jip me Ford by calling 315s 35s! And before anyone says anything, yes, you can get true to size tires that are the size they say they are.

The difference is negligible. Maybe .5 to 1 mpg.
I run 35s on my Ford F150 and I average 18.3 mpg but I drive highway back and forth to work.
