But, they are not true 35s because 315s are 34.4 inches tall, 12.5 inches wide. If i get 35s I want true to size 35s like a Nitto Ridge Grappler which is an X/T tire in 35X12.5R17. Don't jip me Ford by calling 315s 35s! And before anyone says anything, yes, you can get true to size tires that are the size they say they are.
Most 35's aren't actually a true 35" either...most are 34.something. Nitto Ridge Grapplers are 34.76".

Inch sized floatation tires do tend to be of a much more sturdy construction with more tread depth and thicker sidewalls. They also weigh considerably more than metric sized tires.

Hey FORD see what happens when you don't put the Build and Price configuration online. We go crazy and fight over tire sizes. ?
Literally arguing over tenths of an inch in either direction....A tenth actually.

So when you ask which they may choose and why they ...both sides,....immediately have to defend their choices to the other team ..... over a tenth of an inch.

And really, even if you stepped it out to 33's or 35's ...... folks are going to be alll, well technically ....blah blah blah 2/10ths this and 1 tenth that and less than 1 inch ineither direction .... and lets not forget about a 1/16 difference in tread depth....

All I know is that once on the vehicle and in your driveway, BFG tires are the smallest of them all.

Their 315s are 33.7"-ish tall.

Listed specs and the reality mounted, under load are two different things.

I'll probably take the worn out 285/70R17s off and put 285/75R17s on for that whopping 1.1 inch of tire height and .55 inches increase in ground clearance.

Jump on the 33.8 inch train!

I'll probably run the stock tires until they are bald and if I didn't like them, I will run something different in a comparable size. Whether it's metric or not doesn't make much of a difference to me. I am just excited to have a larger selection now because of the 17" wheel. I run 15's at the moment on my Wrangler and there are not a lot of options to choose from for 35's.

Edit: I wanted to add that my current tires are Goodyear MTR's with Kevlar in a 35/12.50r15 and under load with the pressure set to get proper contact with the pavement they measure just under 34". I don't remember the exact measurement because it's not that important to me. They work great and look good too.

If I go DiamondManSquatch I will rock the 35's until worn out. Then depending on things (if the difference between Badlands and Sas is the upper wheel stop) will go down to 33's and either trim the wheel stop or get shorter ones for Badlands.

However, with the warthog/raptor thing...

My gears are already turning to swap out u/l front control arms and axle cv ends along with shocks/coil over for the front and whatever new rear arms on the rear with shocks/springs and stay 35's to either take off or factory replacement parts (assuming the raptor/warthog will be on 37's). This would be more around the 65-75k mile mark as if I am replacing shocks/struts anyway...might go with a bigger factory option. I would like to keep if factory for parts availability and general designed to work within the application by the manufacturer. Would probably also give me decent travel with 35's.

Imperial sized tires are very, very rarely actually dead on to the 33, 35, etc. sizing. A 35" tire usually measures 34.5-35"ish. So there's not a huge diameter difference between a 315 and most 35" in reality. The imperial floatation tires do tend to be a little more heavily constructed though.

I can tell you this, the only people that really need the extra 1/10th of an inch your all arguing over is your wives.... stop short changing them, they'll appreciate it.

Can somebody humor me and measure the actual tread width on their Nitto Ridge 35 or 315, and someone else measure the Territory SAS tread width Please?

I know That my eyes are seeing that the Nitto is wider on the Tread itself, even though they claim to be the same size. (315x70) as
Ford Bronco Who's switching to 35s from 315s down the road? green machine
The the Wrangler Territory. I want my Sas to look more like the B&P CGI pic of my Bronco. FAT-AND STUPID!
thanks

Sometimes a tire maker will make their 315 and their 35 in different E or D ratings.
If the E that I currently have proves too stiff/harsh I would consider the 35 if there was a D rated that I liked.

I've got a Big Bend Mansquatch on order. I'm actually going to ditch the stock SAS tires and wheels and go with a 285/75R17 or 34.5/10.5R17and lighter rim. Overall diameter is only .6-.9 smaller, but the Bronco will handle better overall than with the stock tires and wheels (especially in the snow). I think that its still going to look good, and perform better for my needs.

I am getting rid of the 315’s for 35”x12.50’s not because of the overall diameter but because 35” look more proportional compared to the height and wide of the tire. The 35 tread width is wider than the 315.
