With you hear brother. I know many will try to turn this trail running off road rig into a family car, but this ain't a Tahoe or Explorer and it won't feel like one either.Did Ford envision the return of the Bronco as a practical family hauler?
I think not. In 4 dr guise it can do that duty with sufficient style if properly equipped but it comes alive as the well proportioned 2 dr. The 2 dr still has enough room for four if needed and sufficient room to be practical. It doesn’t compromise. The 4 dr for all it’s ability is still a compromise for those who must have two extra doors.
The 2 door will be the best Bronco even though the 4 door will outsell it by a wide margin. Americans tend to buy stuff, particularly a car based on the one or two exceptions that they may use it for. With a rack and the seats down, the 2 door has all the room you need for a week long road trip. When wheeling you need to know how to pack correctly. Not only does this save space, but keeps your gear from sliding or even becoming airborne and hitting you in the head.
I've never seen anyone try to rock crawl or even overland with more than 3 in a vehicle. Only the new Defender 110 has enough room inside and up top for a party of 4 to overland with gear, but just barely.
Wheeling with kids will get tricky. One kid, sure, but not 2 or 3 in the back; they'd be miserable in Bronco or a Wrangler running anything besides a light trail. In this instance, you can take a Highlander.
Bronco will be a rough ride, so not the cushy suburbanite ride most are used to. Add in 33 or 35" off road tires and not only will it wander, be bouncy, and loud as hell, but will feel harsh on pavement unless you upgrade the suspension to something high end like ICON or something.
Hope everyone is going into this with an open mind and realistic expectations.
Both Broncos will hold their value pretty well based on the cool factor alone, much like Wrangler.
