Why are you choosing the Bronco over competitors like 4Runner and Wrangler?

Yes correct , the 3 had different degree's of wondering , very sad there quality varies so much . My 2019 and the girlfriends 2018 JLU were different , so we both got rid of them she has a beater untill she gets her 2dr Bronco and I now have a 2020 Forester sport to get me by until I Get My 4dr hopefully this time next year....
lol, totally contemplating getting a beater as well. I kind of want to dump my 2019 Golf R now before taking it through another winter and pick up an Escape or old Volvo or something for the time being. Not whether Iā€™d lose more on the Golf if I sold in the spring vs now....

Going back to what the OT asked. I have been an owner of a 13ā€™ 4runner trail. It was an amazing car, and I regret selling it in some ways. Now, I am buying the Bronco, and will keep it. It ticks so many of the enthusiastā€™s boxes. Ford has done their homework, and they deliver exactly what the enthusiasts want. Thumbs up for Ford. It is not easy to develop a completely new manual for one model, but they did it anyway. Toyota is great, but they fail to understand the new current enthusiast. I feel Toyota is starting to follow Sony and Panasonic path. Great products, but not cutting edge.

As for the Wrangler, itā€™s a great truck, I will never buy or drive one though. Donā€™t like the looks. I have said it in another thread, the 4Runner and Bronco buyer is a different breed from a Wrangler buyer. Yes, there is overlap, but there is a difference nonetheless.

A convertible 4x4 beach buggy with great lines, inspiring heritage, very customizable....with IFS, not a solid front axle that I can run back and forth comfortably for 425 miles between homes...here Ford, take my money, please!

Because Ford hit the mark with this vehicle. Thereā€™s a ton of versatility & options and different teers. Let me tell you Jeep is concerned..Their owners are going on record saying theyā€™re gonna trade their jeeps in for the Bronco. This is an all out assault Ford is staging. Yes an all out take over of the off road World. This vehicle may be the one that makes me divorce the high performance Mustang muscle car world Iā€™m in at the moment.

Too be honest... nostalgia..
Gravel roads, grandmas farm, checking fence, pushing cattle, hanging with my Dad, these memories were all done in his 1979 Bronco

I rented a 4runner while visiting California and really liked it. When I started looking into them I realized how old they are, the limited engine options, limited tech, and all the work just to get 33s on them. Plus, the new ones won't be out until 2022. That's when I started considering the Jeep, but when I heard about the Bronco I was impressed with what I saw. I live in New England, and even though I'd like to checkout Moab one day, 99.9% of my driving will be on pavement and dirt roads.

Iā€™m not discounting the Broncos positives/negatives and the 4Runner positives/negatives when I say this but...

You make no sense when you start by talking about how much you enjoy a vehicle. But feel negatively about it because you read they have older technology.

For the off-roading world People donā€™t see the word ā€œold techā€ instead they see long term reliability.

Are they older? Yea, though I would contend the 2020 update helps a lot. 4Runnerā€™s are Gold standard for reliability and high assembly quality throughout the industry.

Having the ā€œnewest techā€ is keyword for donā€™t buy. Thatā€™s how you avoid getting into a dual clutch focus situation.

Had a ā€˜14 wrangler JKU special edition. It was ok. But not exceptional. Daughter has a new 4-Runner. Interior feels cramped. No removable Top. So hoping the Bronco provides a better over all experience.

Currently have a 2015 4Runner. Here is what I prefer about the bronco.

engine power
Removable top
4runners bumpers make it difficult to add aftermarket ones
Limited tire sizes on 4runner
Broncoā€™s better crawling gear
No front locker option (aftermarket only)
Very basic amenities in the 4runner
I want that removable top
the bronco is the best looking off road vehicle, IMO

the 4Runner has been a great truck. I have used and abused it and itā€™s held up really well. I have been wanting something with more off road features, like the Jeep, but not a Jeep. The bronco looks like it will fit that bill.

I didn't read that they have old tech, I was in the truck. The 2020 update definitely changed things but the car was definitely not designed with that stuff in mind and it's obvious in the radar placement. This is going to be my DD, even though at the moment my current DD is my legs since I'm WFH,

For me is the look and this will be most likely a lease for me until my Cybertruck arrives in 3 years more or less. I have a Honda element, which is more than enough, but seeing the Bronco, it has given me an itch to grab it

i've wanted a jeep for years but after seeing the Bronco, I don't like the way Jeeps look anymore. and the 4runner is way too big for me, it's like a tank.
it's Bronco or nothing for me!

I've wanted a JEEP for a while and when the 18 dropped, I was like "Yep I'm getting a JEEP", but it would have been a compromise because I would have to but more money into it.

Fast Forward to now and these are the reasons it took me so long to pull the trigger:

1. Death Wobble
2. I wanted a washable interior, so I had been looking for ways to do that with a Jeep, but FORD has solved that.
3. Alpine sells a 9" restyle for 3k and I like that, Ford has solved that.
4. At 6'3", I felt crammed in the Jeep, not if FORD has solved that but they managed to remove the cross bar the JEEP has.
5. My wife and I spent the month of DEC in South Africa and rented a Ranger Raptor and we loved it.
6. Besides my moms Caravan, I grew up around FORDs, they are familiar. I'm not that familiar with JEEP.
7. I felt Jeep had gotten too comfortable with the lack of real competition.
8. My closet Jeep dealer on the other side of town. Theres a Ford Dealer down the street.
9. I was actually contemplating buying an older model Bronco or Defender and doing a Resto Mod.

I want the Bronco instead of a Land Rover product, I currently have a Discovery 3 TDI V6 and those were quite expensive for normal people 15 years ago, but the new ones and the new Defender are ridiculously expensive, Land Rover has forgotten the customers who built the company in favour of rich yuppies, bring on the Bronco with its practical shape , ruggedness and reasonable price, Iā€™m gonna get one even if I have to use a specialist importer
