Why are you choosing the Bronco over competitors like 4Runner and Wrangler?

I want the Bronco instead of a Land Rover product, I currently have a Discovery 3 TDI V6 and those were quite expensive for normal people 15 years ago, but the new ones and the new Defender are ridiculously expensive, Land Rover has forgotten the customers who built the company in favour of rich yuppies, bring on the Bronco with its practical shape , ruggedness and reasonable price, I’m gonna get one even if I have to use a specialist importer
I don’t even see Land Rover as a serious competitor in the off-road world anymore. The “fuel economy above all else” mantra has really done a number on them since tata took over. The new defender is a glorified unibody minivan with low floors, cheap interior and no real ability to be built up.
The contrast between the Bronco introduction and the Defender introduction makes it clear the two vehicles have entirely different intents. It’s disheartening they would put the defender name on this new product with the storied history the actual defender represented.

I struggle to decide which naming strategy is worse, the Blazer or the Defender.

Bronco over wrangler because of better standard base items and more options over wrangler

Power windows and door locks
AC
Hardtop
LED headlights
Apple car play
Touch screen
Frameless door (half doors)
Full open roof
6-7" longer 2 door, more cargo

Optional:
35s
more power 2.7L

Way more for your money. Ford blew the wranglers' doors off.

I think people get misinformed somewhere about the wrangler somewhere. The Wrangler literally has all of that except the frameless doors. Also the bronco doesn't come standard with LED lighting, only the outerbanks and above have them.

I drive a wrangler. There is only one reason that is making me switch. The IFS vs solid axle for everyday drivability and affordability of 400lbs of torque in the 2.7L. As a neutral party I would like to say this,

The new JL wrangler has a LOT of comfort and convenience features. look at the way Ford prices their trucks and SUVs. Ford's comfort features will not be cheap.

Yeah lol, I don't think you can get a new vehicle these days without AC, Power windows and locks.

One area that I do think the Bronco has a leg-up with and I think the og poster meant to say was the Bronco comes standard with an 8" touch screen and is available with the optional 12". Jeep comes standard with a 5" screen and you have to pay extra for the 7" or 8". Between that and the features Bronco says they have planned (Trail Tracking, GPX file upload, etc...), that is pretty huge.

As a former 2016 Taco owner, that engine, or the way its programmed, is absolute garbage. The 4.0 in my FJ is great, I never drove any of the newer Tacos, so maybe they corrected it by now, but it was junk.

Fortunately that engine did not make its way to the 4Runner.

Transmission programming. I had a 2014 same thing. Did not care for how the seats felt

You are the one misinformed. I'm talking base vs base. I've owned many wranglers, I know them well. The items I listed are standard on the base bronco but not on the base wrangler including LED HEADLIGHTS.

Too be honest... nostalgia..
Gravel roads, grandmas farm, checking fence, pushing cattle, hanging with my Dad, these memories were all done in his 1979 Bronco
Same. I remember hearing for the first time "Proud to be an American" by Lee Greenwood in my dad's bronco. Everytime I hear any version of that song I always think about him and those times. So I'm picking one up a Badlands for myself and heavily leaning towards a Base for my 15 year old son who will be 16 when we finally take delivery so he can begin his Bronco journey. The Jeeps I have been looking at for him are around the same price as the Base 2 and 4 doors with 50-60K miles on them. So why not?

I wasn't even in the market for a 4WD. My future new car options were wide open - then I saw the January issue of Car & Driver. At that moment I knew. The ’21 Bronco would be mine ?

Repeat of others.. but I want 2-door, open top, no doors, 4-seater with good power and IFS.

Currently nothing but Bronco checks all those boxes.

I already run a JK Wrangler and I can not wait to get away from FCA.
I trust Fords at work, and have always wished I could get a Wrangler that was made by Ford. Until the Bronco I figured that was just a fever dream

Now if you'll excuse me, I'll be drying out my jeep from the leaky roof...

I drive a '16 Tacoma right now. The engine is fine, and it actually builds pretty decent power. Problem is you have to drive it like a 4 banger. You can't drive it thinking it's like the old 4.0 V6s we were all used to.

If you turn off the ECT mode and romp on it, it gets up and goes.

I've always been a fan of the Jeep Wrangler, and I really liked the 4 door version as well. I've also always liked the 4Runner. What can I say? They are just off-road machines with their own legacies.

But that said, I've also been a Ford fan for a long time. I love Mustangs, and I've been a huge fan of the F-150 Raptor. Ever since the Bronco was revealed it hit all the right notes, it's a serious off-road machine, it looks fantastic, and it's a Ford. The branding is just so spot on. For a while there I was kind of daydreaming about a 4 door Wrangler, but that's been replaced with the 4 door Bronco now. And yeah, I changed my desktop wallpaper from a Mustang to the new Bronco. I have a new obsession.

Now I just need of figure out how to put in a couple of aftermarket fold up seats in the back and I can fit my whole family on board! I was already looking up aftermarket third row seats for the 4 door Wrangler, I'm sure you could do something similar in the Bronco.

All new Toyotas suffer from bad responsiveness and non linear pedal feel stock. Gotta get a throttle commander. Its some built in fuel economy BS.
