That quote is dubiously attributed to Lincoln, and while Maurice Switzer would be a better candidate for the exact wording, it's really just a paraphrased/modernized biblical verse from Proverbs 17:28. Lincoln may have said something similar in passing at some point in his life, but there's no way of knowing as no record exists of him either writing or speaking it.
