Here is an excerpt from my confirmation email from Ford:
We received your reservation and deposit payment for an exciting new 2021 Ford Bronco. You’re about to experience the wild with the power and capability of one of our most anticipated off-road vehicles.
I don't know if the latest emails specify the year not, but even if they don't, the T&C for your reservation is pretty clear that you may not be reserving exactly what you see... or anything at all.

Checked the other day on Ford.ca. No more reservations there. Maybe US site won’t be far behind.

Basically a $100 upfront money with no interest for them to start building vehicles. They can use the numbers of reservations to obtain other funding as needed to build orders. Some may cancel and get their $100 back, but Ford had that hundo for a while interest free to use. <-- Just my thoughts.
Ford does not get the $100 it goes to the individual dealerships.

Congratulations! You all just moved up in the pecking order. Just cancelled my reservation. I wouldn't touch a 2021 Bronco with a 10 foot pole.

The hundred dollars goes to the dealers it is a down payment to them not to ford.

Now that we know that there is no way they will fulfill a 2021 reservation placed today, tomorrow, etc..., why is Ford even accepting reservations for a 2021? Personally, I just wish Ford would start out with MY22 Bronco's with deliveries mid to late next year. Just run 'em all for MY22.
Your assuming each dealer MY21 allocations will be capped at no more than their converted reservations. If there is no cap, then is it possible today to pick the right dealer and get a MY21? Say Dealer A currently wants to charge a $5,000 ADM. They get no reseverations. Do they still get allocations based on the 50% of the formula? If so, on March 1st they promote they now are $500 under MSRP. You are the first reservation with them on March 1st and in line to get one of their MY21 allocations.

Bumping this old thread because it's still relevant. I placed a Bronco pre-order only about a month ago and the dealer said that if I converted my reservation to an order I could have "An opportunity to get scheduled for 2021". I pretty much expect to get my Bronco in the year 2028.

I'd bet you could get it relatively quickly, too, if you ordered a Base 4 DR Soft Top with no options.

It is a public traded company so shareholders expect it. And what happens if everyone with a current reservation decided to cancel it?
I think that it would not matter to the Ford Boardroom. They would still sell all the Broncos they can build and maybe at a higher price than the current reservations/orders. They would just sell them to different people and some of the current order holder like us. It might ever be a good thing for Ford giving them more breathing room to get production sorted out.
