Why isn’t Ford just releasing the Bronco as MY22?

Ford should have made a 4 door, 2.3, MIC, badlands for MY21...period.

Instead, Ford offered to many choices and they now have serious egg on their face from not being able to deliver.

Honest question I hope someone can explain to me...

Im confused about what people mean when they ask this question.

Some people make it sound like they think Ford shouldn’t release any Bronco’s until MY22 production... but that doesn’t make any sense to me because if they can sell units to people who want it now, they should.

Some people make it sound like they should just call the Broncos they’re building now MY22... but that doesn’t make any sense to me because it would mean a weird 18 month model year and then they either don’t make improvements in 6 months, or you have a weird mid-year change... in which case you should have just done a short MY21 to begin with. Is it that even though they’ll have a Bronco made during MY21 production, they want to call it a MY22?

So my question is:

When people say that Ford should just make all Broncos MY22, what do they mean, and what’s the benefit?
It should be remembered that the initial original Ford Mustangs were introduced in April 1964 at the New York World’s Fair.
If memory serves me correctly, they were all 1965 Vin #’s !
The idea of a ‘64 and a half is actually a fiction.
The ‘65 MY commenced 4/64 and ran for 19 months, delivering about 750,000 vehicles.
With that history, Ford should have no issue calling all pre 3/19 reservations MY ‘22’s !

The stock is up for introducing an awesome vehicle, which my example would be. Given that some people have been waiting a decade for this nameplate I believe it would have sold extremely well.

It's actually up for a combination of many things... But yes, this is a factor.

Then Ford wouldn’t be able to have a price increase for the post March 19th reservations IMO.
Exactly. There is a reason why the latest press release stated we would have price protection.

Through the 80s, 90s and into the new century, the printing company I work for printed "authorized reprint" Ford Shop Manuals covering Mustang, Falcon, Fairlane, Cougar, Montego and T-Bird from years 1965 thru 1973. Thick books. And even though we only printed it once, there was a 1964 1/2 shop manual. Much fewer pages just to get service personnel started. Maybe some remember them being sold at rod runs or swap meets. The Mustang was a game changer. Every manufacturer had to create a "pony" car. The Bronco did the same. And now is again.

Edit. It was a stand alone supplement and also included with 1964 Comet Falcon shop manual

I never understood this. I said months ago why bother releasing a MY21 in May/June just get your sh!t together and do a regular new MY launch in Sept as a MY22.
