No, they just can't install it do to some crazy arbitrary GVWR rule. Just buy it and install it yourself in 10 minutes.
The rails themselves aren't the weight. It is their capacity to hold the additional weight.

You can definitely buy it as a part and the standard warranty. They have been parading around 4 door Sasquatch broncos with roof racks then now say you can't. I still feel this is wrong, but at least we can do it ourselves.
