the struggle is real, that's for sure.

I'd like to jump to the BL and not have to worry about upgrading. But going into this, I set myself a budget. I wanted to keep the monthly payments under $600. With the BD build I currently have & $15k down, it gets me just under $600 @ 60 months. Going BL puts me at $691 @ 60 months. So I'd have to basically come up with another $5k cash to get me back to $600. Sure, I know I could do a 72 month loan, but I'm not a fan of paying off a car for 6yrs. Even 5yrs is giving me agita. So part of me says f it, just get what you want out the door. (that's the millennial in me). Then the other part of me says, make smart financial decisions. (that's the gen x'er in me) I'm a Xennial.

On the count of three name your favorite dinosaur, don't even think about it...I'm in the exact same position...would love to go BL or SAS but it just isn't in the budget...And, if I'm being honest with myself, how many times am I really going to push it off-road...I want to but I also want to get back in shape, stop eating fast food and retire early...Wanna go do karate in the garage?

As I recall, the Black Diamond tires are slightly wider (265's) than the Big Bends 255's.
The TRUE tire sizes are:

Ah. Thx! I didn't really pay much attention to the BB, so I was foolishly assuming they were 255/70/17... So that makes much more sense now!

My dealer is putting 285/70/17's on my BD upon arrival. Just have to decide which ones I want. Probably go with the KO2's. But the Toyo AT3 is also an option.

My dealer said they'll likely give me 90-100 credit per tire they take off the Bronco.

I want to know if these 285/75R17 KO2 tires will fit on a standard Black Diamond without a lift. They’re 33.8” in diameter.

Nice thread. I’m thinking about 255/80 on the upgraded BD wheels. Seeing as how this is a taller tire than 285/70 (33.1 vs 32.7) does anyone think a 1” spacer would be prudent? I have no experience with suspensions.

I don't think that you are going to need a spacer, honestly. The BD is only 0.67" different with regards to the lift. The tires are not that much taller than stock. I just dropped off my wheels for a set of 295/70R17's that I intend to put on my OBX for off-road use. I am 99.9" sure that if I remove the crash bars that it won't even be close to hitting anything with the 17"x9" +30 rims that I picked up from RTR.

The problem with 255/80 is everything is E rated so it's going to ride like a wagon.

So, the biggest question remains:
if the computer can be adjusted for 33?

That is A question, but not the biggest. Fit/no rub at full turn/full compression is. And for me: will chains fit (manuals says 255 width tires only).

32 vs 33 inch tire is three percent so the computer thinks you're doing 70, you're really doing 72.

No it won’t. Proper air pressure goes a long way to ride comfort.

If anyone puts 285/70R17 on their BD, please send pics along with any updates to the speedometer calibration or gearing concerns. Thanks in advance!
