After market engine mods will void warranty and cause a" failure to pass smog", modifications that have been cleared by your state of register emissions are allowed, but still may void warranty.
I have had engine codes pop once mods were made.

But if the modification is coming directly from Ford Performance, it won't (shouldn't) void warranty while maintaining smog requirements. I understand what you're saying, but Ford Performance will work within those confines, third party aftermarket probably won't.

I have not used the factory mods sounds like that is pretty much the only way to go.
