I notice that Ford has not addressed the very popular question about if the MIC2.0 fix planned for October will also address the "no roof rack for 4-door 2.7 SAS" issue. Even before MIC-gate, Ford has suggested that they were already going a roof redesign for 2022 to address the issue.

Does anyone have a sense of if MIC2.0 will include this design upgrade?

From what I have assessed by reading pages upon pages of roof rack threads on this forum - the redesign was to the rack itself for SAS to be approved.

Based on everything said in the last couple weeks the MY22 order guide lets you add it.

The lack of rack on the 4dr Badlands had nothing to do with the top! lol

The question is not about if you can order a 2022 model with rack.

The question is about 2021 models that are getting replacement MIC tops. Also, there is still no roof rack listed as an "accessory" AND you can not order a roof rack from the parts catalog or you will need to individually buy each rail and cross bar - which will mean that your rack would cost like $2K, which no sane person would ever pay.

So perhaps the better question is will the rack be offered as an accessory or not? If not, we will need to wait and hope for a 3rd party provider.

okay... and?
Read over the Q&A on the recent Ford emails. There was a mention of fixing this issue in the new 2022 configurator beginning mid-Sept. I believe the inability to order a roof rack on certain trims had nothing to do with the Rack or the roof but the weight rating on Sasquatch packages and/or vehicles with metal bumpers and full armor plating underneath. You should be able to buy a rack from a Ford parts department (in time, not the accessories catalog) after the fact if the September configurator update does not allow it.

This is correct but they also stated redesigning it to be added from factory on the sasquatch package from factory, but either way I believe this was in fact a redesign of the rack and not the roof itself.

No one said anything about a re-design, I've read it here on this forum, but never from Ford!

Hopefully they will sell this redesigned roof rack as an accessory. If they don't I'm sure the aftermarket will jump into the void left by not doing so. No one in their right mind would pay what Ford wants for the individual pieces to assemble one.

I just hope they make the top to handle more weight so can carry a rtt,the load limit now is pathetic.

I’m a newbie who just joined. On Ford’s selector, dropping the Sasquatch package (4dr) was not enough to get the roof rack. I also have to drop the 2.7L. Weight/weight distribution?

Yes. You can search the forum for GVWR discussions… that’s the stated reason for no roof rack on the higher (heavier) trims.

As stated previously, Ford has never said the limitation was the top design… that started here from people worrying that later tops would not be compatible with earlier model years. (Hint: there is no evidence that this is something to worry about)

Thank you.
When adding additional accessories to these heavier models, that the Ford selector does not let you add, can there be any Ford issues when it comes to your factory warranty? For me, this would be specific to the weight issue.
