If the ol' 4.6L can make it to nearly 1m miles with oil changes at 3k intervals, so can the 2.3T.

The 4.6L turned out to be a hell of an engine. Probably billions of miles on them in NYC cabs alone. Also, WTF is that mounted below your speedo?

Depends on their definition of “too fast”!
Kind of leaves it open to interpretation.
I'm assuming this refers to acceleration rather than top speed but it is very vague, like when a parent tells a kid to be careful. OK... :giggle:

The beards are a family thing, and BFG is a cousin...

You do know the fuel doesnt come in contact with the intake side of the turbo, right? You'll only be creating more carbon build up with that extra oil being burned up in the combustion chamber, and flug through the exhaust side of the turbo. Great for the guy to rebuild the turbo, bad for your wallet.

Are the turbos on a 2.7 any different than the turbo in my 6.7 Ram. been told for years that you need the fuel additives to keep the turbo bearings lubricated to keep from turbo and fuel system problems.

Yeah, the Dodge one is diesel. It's going to have more soot carbon gunk build-up to contend with.
The gasoline turbo, not as much.

With modern engines and oils, there is no need to change oil at 1,000 miles.
I'm not but if I did I would make certain to use the same oil that it came with from the factory which is probably a synthetic blend. This would be to help break the engine in completely which may or may not continue past 1000 miles. I understand full synthetic too soon doesn't allow the engine to break in properly. I will probably go full synthetic at 5k.

Changing the oil early on a new vehicle does not allow for proper break in.
What specifically does not get broken in properly by doing the first oil change early?

When I bought the wife's Bronco Sport (1.5l) the dealer informed me that oil change interval was 10k.. and that it used a Full Synthetic oil... When asked, they were told the Bronco would be using same oil.. and would follow the same interval guidelines.

10,000-mile OCI is pretty much the industry standard now, and pretty much for the past decade or so.

Like most new vehicles it will probably be somewhere around 1K miles for the break in. That usually involves not running on the interstate at the same speed for many miles. Basically just vary your speed every now, and then. And try not to slam on the brakes for the first 200 miles (I think that the mileage) to give them time to bed correctly. I don't expect the Bronco to lock out any features like some sports cars do. The info will be in the owners manual.
1,000 miles, so maybe 10 days for me ;-)

Curious as to what this engine's use case is. If you wouldn't mind sharing. TIA

I drove about 150 miles a day to work for about three years, half highway, half back roads. Then from Daytona to Phoenix a few times. Then into the mountains for my job at the copper mines. Home on the weekends. Lots of mixed conditions.

Thanks. I have a BMW engine with about half that mileage, 14 years of 170/day, but a mix of heavy traffic, back road barnstorming, and about 30 miles of easy cruising. 12.5K average oil change interval.

Has to do with generating the proper clearances on main bearings and piston rings.

Break it down for me. How does an early oil change affect this?
