Hey folks! On my Badlands I installed one of these winches and it worked great...I know a lot of folks lean toward the harbor freight Badlands winch, but this one has cool features that make it seem more worthwhile to anyone looking for a low cost setup. As a bonus, when I installed on I weighed it and it was around 43 lb which was lighter than a lot of the others and it comes with synthetic line. This is the link to the sale that's going on

And a screenshot of the discount code that gets you to a final price of $299

Thanks for the heads up about this. Iā€™d ordered a barricade front bumper and looking at the badland winches. This is perfect for the price. Discount code worked with no taxes! Thanks again!

You are most welcome! It is a great winch...it came with two wireless remotes, and synthetic line, and has a very unique engagement mechanism that is less likely to get gummed up like the traditional lever. It is also tough to beat for the weight, and I ended up buying a bumper for under $1,000 that fit the Badlands (without a bunch of modifications) like a glove. I did make sure to measure the angle of the cruise control module prior to removing the bumper, and made sure that when everything was installed that I was able to adjust it to the same. What was tough was finding a bumper that blocked as little of the radiator and the intercooler as possible. Did you also get the free hat and the winch cover?

Something seems fishy, Rob (OP) posted that he sold his Bronco back in December?

Several things are fishy, starting with a cheap ass winch you expect to save your rig for $299.

Do what you do fellasā€¦..

I expect the cheap ass Chinese made Harbor Freight winch to save me. I think I paid around $300 for it. If they work for Matt I'm pretty sure it'll be just fine for me.

I did sell my rig...but I still get emails from that company when there is a promotion, by choice, and I thought that because I still have friends with Broncos and I still love Broncos that I figured I'd offer up the coupon for anybody else that wants a winch to put on whatever rig it is they have. Yes the company is Chinese, but I will guarantee that anyone who buys most of the other products for the Bronco these days will have something that's made from someplace they weren't expecting (even my very expensive Diode Dynamics used bulbs from overseas). Many of the parts on all Broncos were made in places you wouldn't expect (think of the chip shortage). One of the reasons I like that company with the winch that I bought is that when I emailed them to ask them a number of questions, they replied almost instantly...that was not the case with the harbor freight folks or with even Warn. As for tracking, just about every single thing you visit on the internet has embedded cookies and those that don't ask you if you approve of them can still track... If you want some degree of not being tracked in a VPN is beneficial. For me, nothing I do is that important or interesting that I actually care if I'm tracked. I've had two other rigs since the Bronco, both with other brand winches on them, that cost much more and did nothing any better than the one that cost $300. No conspiracy here folks! In one of my threads I have pictures and a write-up about the winch so it was in fact real and it did arrive quickly and everything was much better than I had expected for the very low price I paid. And I'm surprised that someone would question a Chinese winch especially given that so many people love the Badlands winch which I can assure you was probably made in the facility not too far from the one that makes most of the other things that Harbor Freight sells...and those winches seem to hold up pretty well.

Agree...Matt actually uses his winch, and many folks who buy winches don't. For those who do, before they need things to save their rigs they need to first get into such a situation, and things like, say, wheels and tires get them there...and guess where most of those fancy expensive wheels/tires come from that most Bronco owners immediately purchase come from? China or other Asian countries (even the higher-end genuine beadlock setups and most tires). The thing I appreciate about the $300 winch is that it's not trying to pretend to be something it isn't and you're paying a fair price knowing where it's made. If anyone buys pretty much any car out there these days, including the Bronco, they should note that before they feel satisfied about "buying American" that even the sticker they put on it of an American flag was probably made somewhere that wasn't America and ordered with a phone or computer that also wasn't made in America. Regardless, not made in America does not always equal not up to par/not reliable/etc.

Wait man. It isnā€™t news that almost everything is manufactured in China; why wouldnā€™t it? When you can pay a worker in China less than $3 per hour, where the equivalent American worker would be paid over $20, thatā€™s just math and good business.

My post wasnā€™t a dog whistle for the culture wars about the Chinese.

Doesnā€™t matter who or where itā€™s manufactured, what does matter is who designed it, tested it to stresses, and quality of materials and quality control. I donā€™t think itā€™s any mystery that companies in China steal designs and knock off goods from other places; often cutting corners and making some serious compromises.

A winch is a safety device and a very important one at that; itā€™s also one that can maim or kill you as well as the winch line.

Safety is where anyone getting into this game should invest the most. Not on fender flares, phone mounts, and Bronco script letters.

Even Warn and Spydura line; both the best, are manufactured in China. However, knock offs of their goods are NOT equivalent. Can you get away with it on occasion, sure. But the one time it doesnā€™t, youā€™re perhaps done, or your rig is.

That said, do whatever you want boys; youā€™ve been WARNā€™d (pun).

I'm not aware if the $300 winch has been tested to rigorous standards or not...I just wanted to share the coupon in case somebody wanted to get an affordable winch for their rig (and I didn't think that I'd get lit up for it on the forum). Even if something is designed and engineered well it doesn't mean that when it's manufactured someplace beyond the supervision of the folks who did the engineering that what you're getting in that expensive purchase is guaranteed to last or perform. Case in point...the valves on certain Broncos...my steering rack...the electronics that glitched during instances when I needed the things that shut down...

I suspect that the $300 winch is no less capable or reliable than the Warn winches that are (even) close to that price point. It makes sense that somebody who's going to do gnarly winch work would probably be better suited to buy something that is far more expensive and that has gone through far more rigorous testing, but they will most likely have the suspension to handle the extra weight and a bumper that is reinforced at the attachment points...many Bronco owners who buy winches and bumpers don't even bother buying the stout kit that IMHO is required for making sure whatever winch they buy doesn't pull their front bumpers off. I also imagine that Matt's recoveries with his Badlands winch has pretty much eclipsed much of the bench testing that most of the winches out there get (or don't get)...and he seems to have somehow avoided any winch injuries.

I too wasn't trying to get into a debate about China or the US or any other country... good products and s***** products are made all over the world (and being made in any specific place is zero guarantee of it being any better than it being made in any other place). I just get a kick out of it when people claim to be die hard supporters of one specific place not fully realizing that much of what they own or use on a daily basis was made or designed someplace else...like Forscan...or the cable used to connect it...

Iā€™ve seen plenty of successful recoveries using Chinese made winches. Witnessed zero failures. Even the cheaper name brand winches are made over seas and I wager all brands use some Chinese parts.
