Something struck me as I was looking at Bronco pictures the other day....
How has Bronco solved the problem of opening doors (front doors specifically for the 4 door model) with window glass up/extended, not interfering with the body-mounted side mirrors? Looking at pictures, it looks like the door would not open very wide before the glass would impact the mirror. So I went and searched for some videos, but all I could find were videos of door opening with the window glass down, or the tube doors, or the doughnut doors. Has somebody seen this live or can surface a video to show how this works?

The door should stop just short of coming in line with the mirror. Hopefully this prevents the glass from making contact. Maybe if you swung it open hard or some high winds catch it the glass might tap the edge of the mirror, but I would assume this is the first thing Ford had to work out when designing mirrors that stayed on the body.

One of the walkthrough videos (don't remember which one now) showed the door stopping just short of the mirrors. It didn't look all that narrow in the video; wider than you'd be able to open the door in a parking lot.

In the video that was a chat with the original designers, they talked about how much of a challenge it was to engineer the mirrors to work on the cowl like that. It sounded like an absolute headache, but I trust they must have figured it out.

;)

Ahhh got it. I figured it had to be either a mechanical stop, or a mechanism that automatically lowered the windows when the door was opened. The latter would seem a likely possible point of failure and broken glass, so good to hear it is the former.

The door hinge has a stop/limit.

I think Doug's video specifically addressed this.

It doesn’t stop. The glass slams in to the mirror and shatters.

There will be a strap as accessory as on Heeps... ?

Seriously design of doors and mirrors looks promising!

As John said above, Doug Demuro talked about it in his video.

Has anyone seen anything addressing the door/mirror situation when the mirror is folded??

Unfold the mirror before you open the door?

That would have happened during the Design and Testing Phase?

Is it normal that the window gently touches the mirror on the passenger side when you open the door. Doesn’t do it on the driver side. Bronco is a week old.
