Window Tint

Looks like the front windows on driver and passenger, could use some tinting. Any one seen what they look like in real life.

Window tinting for front driver and passenger windows are regulated differently in each state. Ford has to make sure that the tinting meets the minimum standard for the most restricted state reg.

Most factory windows come in somewhere in the mid 70s %. They have to meet regulations nationwide. Some states, like AK where I live, have absurdly strict tint laws. The legal minimum VLT on front windows here is 70%, so we can't have any aftermarket tint at all on front windows here..."legally"

Do we know yet the % or brand of the factory tint so it's easy to match the front to whatever the rear comes with? I remember on my Touareg they used some obscure film that we all had to have our tint shops special order, was a major pain in the @ss.

F150's run about 20% on the privacy glass (rear windows and back glass).

The rear factory privacy glass is likely 30%. In NYS, the windshield and front driver/passenger windows must allow 70% light transmission unless you have a medical exemption. Rear windows can be as dark as you want on an SUV (Any "SUBN" vehicle designation on the reg).

If you tint for actual benefits and not to be hidden I highly recommend 3m crystalline.

It only comes in lighter shades but keeps your temps way down and protect the interior tons better than other tints. The stuff isn't cheap but worth it (and in this case only talking about 2 windows)

I mention it because you can go so light and still get the benefits that cops won't tend to mess with you. Hard to even tell.

I went with their "Darkest" shade with mine...tinted everything but the Front windshield and in my area, no issues.

I'm under the impression that the glass itself is tinted and that it is not a film.

I know you're not supposed to roll your windows down for 48 hours. How does that work when the Bronco windows shoot down an inch when you open the door? Good thing there's a tailgate! Lol

I’ve had multiple mustangs tinted here that have the windows that do the same thing. It’s always been fine.

Here in Florida the law is "front side windows must allow 28 percent + light through. The rear side windows must allow 15 percent of light through" sounds good to me, make it pretty dark and save the interior.
