So, in the last 9 months, I have had to replace two windshields on our Telluride here in Michigan. There have been a TON of potholes forming here and associated slag is all over the road. I know that Jeeps are susceptible to cracked windshields because of the lack of rake or upright angle of the windshield.

There were a lot of hypothesizing about the Bronco suffering a similar fate. What has the experience been out there for those that have taken delivery?

Its a chip magnet, and expensive to fix (roughly $1500). I've been lucky so far and with 6 months ownership, no chips yet. Have seen many posts here about chipped windshields though.

Good luck! Check the similar threads below this one to see a lot of examples..

So far so good in Alaska, and we use a lot of gravel on the winter roads.

My windshield is totally wrecked at 1000 miles. 1st chip at 600, 2nd at 1000 miles and that one immediately spiderwebbed. Both from extremely small rocks that would never have chipped a normal vehicle.
The Ford glass is also backordered.

Less than 2 weeks in got a chip on the border that I didn't notice until it cracked and creeped inwards, now it's all the way across the windshield 😢

I drive 120km a day along a highway and mountain road that gets sanded quite well in the winter so I was expecting to have my windshield cracked/chipped, just not so soon after taking deliver... Good thing I opted for extra insurance coverage that reimburses me the windshield deducible!

TON of potholes forming here (again, thanks Gov. Whitmer)
I hate myself for taking the bait, but I just have to know: why even put something like that? You realize this happens everywhere, yea? Is complaining just so much a part of our DNA now that everything needs to take on some kind of brain-dead political shade?

Ford should be embarrassed that they don't offer Gorilla Glass like Jeep.

got a nice snowflake star crack at 3mo. I did buy the windshield replacement policy as it is stupid expensive. will probably wait until closer to either safety inspection or it spreads bad as it will happen again...would love to replace with a gorilla glass if available by then.

Point taken. Snarky political comment removed.

I didn't really know that was an option with insurance plans. What kind of premium increase should I expect (roughly) for that addition?
