I've been in since we first saw the 2004 concept (which I thought looked pretty sweet itself). My biggest concern is all the talk of a turbo 4. And yes I've seen the output numbers, but I will use it to tow a 12 foot trailer with 2 quads, and I don't want it to struggle like my wife's Jeep. Would feel much better with a V6, sadly it'll never see a 351 (my preferred engine) dropped in it.
I think it's been all-but-confirmed that it'll have V6 options, as well as probably some I4 variants. Sadly (or awesomely, depending on your perspective), even a turbo 4 would probably outperform the old 351. My 351 is absolutely gutless pushing 33 inch tires on stock 3:55s. That said, nothing beats the sound of a big V8 and a custom exhaust.

It's been officially confirmed with the Bronco R that it will have a twin turbo ecoboost, and the only twin turbo engines Ford make are V6es. From the Bronco R press release:
"even the twin turbos of the EcoBoost® engine are representative of what the production Bronco will offer"

Got me confused on that one. Based on your profile pic (92-96 Bronco), surprised that your 351 is gutless. I've owned 84 (351), 93 (302) & a 94 (351). And both my 351's had plenty of power, good acceleration and able to tow a 21' boat. The 84 even had a 4" lift with 35" Mud Terrains to spin. The 302 on the other hand was a gutless wonder.

Eh, the 460 in my 82 was pretty dang gutless until I blew it up. The rebuilt motor is pretty dang gutfull.

I'm still on the fence. If the styling is like the racer I love that. If it doesn't come with a V8, I'm not too interested. If it's over $50k, I'll probably never own one or would only buy after it's beat down and worn out. But I don't have my mind made up and probably won't until they are in showrooms and I've had a test drive.

It's too early to say. I need to see the production version. However, I don't see anything that turns me off. I remain excited.

What can I say? The 1994 5.8 was rated at just over 200 h.p. from the factory (and that seems optimistic). The 351W can be a great motor. Just not in the stock 1994 Bronco configuration.

Like I said, what worries me most though is still towing capacity. If I look at current gen Ranger with the 4 banger I'm seeing 3500 lb. towing capacity. Google searching a 94 Bronco w/5.8 showing a 7800 lb. towing capacity. So my hope is for a V6 that can tow something. Luckily for me in the past, I guess my 5.8's always seemed to run good. Aside from guzzling gas of course.

I stand corrected. If i can get 7500 lbs I could probably live with that engine. Thanks.
I think all you can learn from looking at the Ranger, is that the 4 banger will not be what limits the towing numbers for the Bronco.

Wrangler (3,500lb) and Gladiator (>7,000lb) have extremely different tow ratings, even though the engine (V6) is the same, and many other components are arguably similar or the same as well.

What I'm seeing in the R is certainly building my hype, and I'm just about sold on it. Love the styling so far, and hope they don't goof on the grille/headlights. Only issue is what we don't know yet... will it be offered as a manual, and what will the removable top system look like? Those will be my dealbreakers... if it's auto only or just has lame pop-out panels, then it'll probably be a no.

Also, if it can't tow at least 5000lbs, I'll have to pass... at that point, it won't be of much use to me since it won't be able to tow my car (which is primarily why I need a truck/SUV)

Whether or not it will come with the option of the manual tranny is the deal maker/breaker for me.
