I call bullshit.

There is no federal law that says anything remotely like that.
Go ahead and Google, "which states allow you to buy a car directly from the manufacturer". I'll wait. It is illegal to buy a car *in most states* but I can't find a list of ones that let you

Not federal law, but the majority of states prohibit it. For example, some states expressly forbid a manufacturer from direct sales if they have a dealership in the state.
It is not a direct sale. It a sale by a dealer with an alternate pickup location. No a legal problem anywhere.

chevy did it for the corvette prior to the virus.
You go to your local (or not so local) Chevy dealer, you negotiate with them, agree to price, you pay them (including a hefty fee above delivery) and they have it delivered to the museum. You are still buying from a dealer. It is about the same as a Ford courtesy delivery to another dealer.

So you are claiming there is a ā€œfederal lawā€ that only applies to ā€œmost statesā€ ??

Iā€˜m still calling bullshit. If it is so easy to Google it, why wonā€™t you post a link ? You canā€™t, because there is no such federal law.

Here you go.

Again, only Tesla has direct sales and thats only in the states they fought for and won.

HAHA !

Your link proves my point, there is no FEDERAL LAW that prohibits this. Sure, there are state laws. But zero federal laws.

In fact, your link from the FTC proves that not only is there no Federal law against it, the Federal governmentā€™s official position is that these states should not have these laws. That is something I did not know, so thanks for posting those links as I learned something.

Try reading your own links, you might learn something too.

This thread is full of misinformation. First it was the Federal governmentā€™s fault, now itā€™s the Unionā€™s fault.

Since I got called a ā€œdickā€ up thread for asking someone to prove the false information they were putting out, I will post what I found about Unions and then ask you do the same.

https://www.consumerreports.org/buying-a-car/the-truth-about-destination-fees/

https://www.autotrader.com/car-tips/new-car-delivery-or-destination-charges-explained-213280

None of these links say that Unions are involved with this. If you have any factual information, please post a link. Thank you.

Edit: I see a moderator took out the post upthread where I was called a ā€œdickā€. Thank you.

There are numerous manufacturer programs where you can pick up the car at an alternate location...be it factory, museum, experience center, etc.

Some cost the customer extra like Corvette, others like Porsche cost the dealership to support

In all cases you order and pay from a franchised dealer. You also pay the standard delivery and handling charge. ā€” all upfront prior to delivery.

These are all experience packages. Not sure picking up at MAP qualifies for something Iā€™d pay to do.
