Would you accept a newly designed modular top if the windows were not removable?

MOD top with no gunner hatch (what's the point of it anyhow?). Removable side windows, yes please. I saw an accessory that replaces them with a metal panel with molle grid. Was that a Ford accessory?

I wonder how heavy a top in aluminum that looks like this would be:

I am going to use a harken hoist or hoist-a-top anyway.

I wonder who specified the MIC laminated sandwich—Ford or Webasto—because as dysfunctional as this Webasto plant seems to be, the real problem seems to be the material selection and molding process.

I don’t understand, it wouldn’t be a “modular top” then, what are you trying to say? lol
A modular top to me is one that allows you to remove one or more panels. Being able to remove the roof panels makes it “ modular” originally the Bronco modular top was going to also have removable windows ( and still will if the current design e er gets built.

At this rate, I’ll be riding a ten speed Huffy with a snow tire mounted on the rear. Put a soft top on the two door with the hard top components installed for the finally figured out hard top to be acquired at a later date. How hard can that be?

So if you end up with a MIC hardtop and you break a window, is that MIC to be scrapped? I can't imagine that that there won't be a simple(ish) aftermarket window that allows for a removable window, or slider, or cargo panel.

Yes, as long as it were paintable. I never really cared about the removable windows or the gunner hatch on the 2DR. Of course, I'm one of the weirdos that would have been happy if the top didn't come off at all. Not a huge fan of the sunroofs in the cars I've had either.

Guess it depends on who’s doing the designing... and building

Generally I would expect it to weigh less than it's plastic counterpart. Basing that in part on Al vs UHMW skids -- generally plastic has to be a lot thicker and thus heavier to have the same strength and shape retention.

no

the best feature of the modular top is the ability to make it open air without removing it

It seems they are very far away from executing any form of a modular hardtop.
