All this talk about new paint has me thinking how a wrap would look. You have all kinds of designs to select, or you can use you own photos at some shops.

Mossy Oak camouflage has lots of selections, Real Tree does too. Had wrap done on the bottom of a brand new lariat completely covering all the tan, and over the fender flairs. So why not a new Bronco.

This has been discussed in the many threads complaining about color choices.

I had thought about 3M's Matte Green, but I think Race Red is the right choice for me.

I hope that we maintain a single thread of wrap jobs once people start doing them to their Broncos.

Getting satin black on the hood of an A51, 4 door BD with Squatch. I want the hockey sticks but wife say nerp.
I've been thinking the same thing with a clear film for paint protection.

But but...the Hockey sticks are a MUST!
That's why I put the sad face on your post.
No sticks=sad.

And yeah, wraps are cool and are what they are.
You get what you pay for in quality of vinyl.
And it is not as cheap as a lot think.
I considered doing a matte white-grey-black digi camo on mine.
Talked to some shops who apply the Xpel and higher end stuff.
Looking at at least $2500 and up. $2500 was the starting price for not even doing the jambs or inside the actual doors, just an outer wrap. And no roof.
I'm pretty confident I could manage it on my own, but never have tried any vinyl work larger than the hood bird on a 70's T/A.
It's an expensive thing to make a mistake or two on...
And being as I paint, I could paint mine for less than that in materials.
But paint is permanent (until you paint it again), wrap is there until it fades/fails or you get tired of it.

Are there any negative effects to the vinyl? Like does it Leave a residue or is it difficult to remove? How durable is can I get nicked up right away if I take it off road?

-No negative effects.
-IF you do a partial wrap and leave it on for years, you can get sun fading/scratching/swirling of the paint not wrapped/protected from UV and the elements and it will be mis-matched.
-NO residue, and even if it does, there are numerous safe ways to remove the residue without harming the paint.
It's fairly durable, but that greatly depends on the quality and characteristics of the wrap.
Some are self-healing (to a certain extent). Xpel is one of those top brands that has a lot more durability. All wraps will fail if you beat the body against trees and rocks, but the better ones do fare better against UV, bugs, scratches, and general road grime and debris.
If you ceramic coat the vinyl it will offer another layer of protection, which I would definitely do if I wrapped one.

I am going just matte black the hood
I considered doing that too. My Trailhawk has this from the factory to limit hood glare, and I like the look/functionality.
