They do pop up though, good luck!!
Edit: lots of people powder coat them. Do a few searches, seems like a cheap, good solution if you don't have issues removing them.

I have a set of SAS rims I'm selling. they beauty rings were loosened when they removed tires so easy to get powdered to match. I'm in Illinois though.
I have a set for sale. They have about 500 miles on.. no sensors. Asking $900
