Our new Side Rail easily mounts beneath your soft top, providing a convenient side roof-line mounting area without interfering with the soft top’s opening and closing.

X-Rack mounting plates (included) are needed to attach gear to the Side Rail, elevating equipment to clear the door window opening.

Ideal for mounting shower/toilet enclosures, shovels, axes, traction boards, awnings, and more.

The rail supports up to 30 lbs. For enclosures and awnings, ground supports and tethers are necessary.

This kit includes the Side Rail for one side, all necessary hardware for Bronco attachment, and two accessory mounting plates.

It uses existing holes—no drilling or modifications required for 2021, 2022 and some early model 2023’s. Some 2023 and up models may need to have 2 holes enlarged a bit to fit our nut insert.

260 … may be closer to 300 with tax n ship, is a bit steep don’t you think? Like almost a tiny bit variation of this https://www.amazon.com/Amwmorv-Lugg...cphy=9027594&hvtargid=pla-2296718014793&psc=1 and a whole lot of difference in price.
The difference is that the style you linked does not allow the top to be opened.

Our product is built and assembled in the United States using high-quality, local and globally sourced components and powder coated here in the USA for a much better product.

Two questions:

1. when is this beach fishing cart becoming available?

https://www.xrack.us/product/hitch-mounted-beach-fishing-carts-coming-soon/

2. are those orange beauty rings on the optional badlands wheels? looks great on you bronco! easy to replace?

Thanks for the discount. I like your fishing rod apparatus. About this one, I guess you are correct, but I could just take the 2 crossbars off the cheaper rack brackets easily when I am not camping. For now, I guess I will just take the 2 cross bars of the cheaper one, line up and drill a couple of holes in the middle slot, and use it on the side like yours; it's a cute idea, though. The powder coating is a real opportunity I think. if that could be done to color match with wider crossbars like the rhino rack ones (and that would need more robust attaching brackets than the cheaper ones), it would look like a painted top from the side and improve aesthetics a lot as well.

I really like this solution!

I have a two-door and don't even want to have a roof rack, but this is great for 4-dr softies who still want the top's functionality.

Will you be looking at compatibility with the electric/automatic soft tops coming out? (I have no idea how this mounts or the electric tops mount)

Nice. I've been hoping something like this would come along, I've been wanting to put an awning on my soft top Bronco for a while.

  • What are the parts of this system made of? Steel or aluminum?
  • Are these brackets adding any wear points to the soft top gasket or top fabric? How much testing was done on this to look for wear on the soft top?
  • How much extra wind noise and leaks into the top does this introduce?
  • It says that it supports 30 lbs., but is it offroad capable with an awning up there? Can that hold up to the movement and shaking from intermediate level trails?
  • What size awning do you have on there, and what's the maximum length awning recommendation for these brackets?
  • Is the whole thing easily removable if I want to pop it off for a bit?
Thanks--

We are close to selling the beach carts. All our parts are built and ready for final assembly. We are just finalizing a better mount to attach it loaded easier to the hitch.

The orange beauty rings were stock grey and we powder coated them orange. they are very easy to replace. You can remove them and still drive the vehicle and send them out to a local powder coater for the color of your choice.

Thank you! We can address that if we get the opportunity to see a electric top up close.

Great to hear! Your fishing cart is the most useful hitch mount option I've seen. The Bote feels like a total ripoff without a good chair holder or cutting table.

Thank you.

The rails and brackets for accessories are aluminum, the vehicle mount brackets are steel.

We do not see any wear points on the soft top as of yet but it is under the rubber and in time the rubber will probably form to the shape of the brackets.

No noticeable wind noise.

It can support 30lbs, but not recommended for extreme off road situations or at high speed off roading. It does flex a bit because of only being mounted to one side of the vehicle. I have driven on sand offroad and hit some big dips with no issues but speed was at 15mph.

We tested 2 awnings, 6'6 and 8', both work great. ground supports and tethers must be used as stated with the awning instructions.

Yes, you can easily remove the vehicle mount brackets with the rail attached by removing 3 screws.

I hope this answers your questions. Let us know if you have any additional questions.

Thanks Nick, appreciate the honest feedback. (y) I may have to try this one out. I'm glad you used steel for the brackets and kept everything else lightweight, and tried those two awning sizes.

Pretty cool! But I wish there was an install video. I never buy any product requiring installation if I cant watch a video on it first.

Just installed today. It was a very easy install, the instructions were easy to follow. I had emailed back and forth with X-Rack support with some questions both before and after ordering and got reasonably responsive helpful answers.

I Installed an awning that weighs 22lbs, so under the capacity.
First day so I can't give a full review, but first impressions are...

1) Easy to install (did it solo)

2) No extra wind noise with the awning installed (at least not that I could tell)

3) There is some movement while driving, maybe "wobble" is a better way to describe it. Seems like it's impossible to avoid without a full roof rack. I angled my side mirror up to watch it and did a shakedown drive on the highway. It wobbled a bit but not enough movement to be concerning.

I will check to see if the bolts need tightened before and after my next off-road trip (which is just a good idea for ANY aftermarket accessories).

I have a Big Bend trip coming up in a couple of weeks so if it fails and rips off during the trip I'll be sure to report it, but so far I don't see any reason to believe it will.
