You mean “order” a Bronco. It will be interesting to see the availability and price of this package. That will tell the real story, IMO.

Ya, basically no one is going to be walking in and "buying" a Bronco off the floor. That's a fantasy.

wishful thinking: $5k package, and you get Rubicon axles.

edit: 5.13 1st gear ratio on the manual, 4:1 Rock-Trac low range ratio, combined with the 4.56 axle ratio, gives you a 93.5:1 first gear crawl, using existing gear box and parts bin transfer case. Definitely evens the playing field a bit against the Sasquatch. could it be??

At least not for a while.
It's just a matter of time before someone is putting a 1-2 year old Bronco up on the Marketplace, full of aftermarket Rough Country cheap parts, rattle can Bedliner all over it, and Ebay headlights for really close to MSRP of a new one.
I see it on the Jeep pages I am on all the time.
Angry eyes grille and a 50" light bar with some Halo lights, add on a set of 20X14 with low profile "MT" tires and some Yeti stickers=asking price of 40k with 130K miles on it.

But technically different than walking into a showroom and leaving with one. You're right, that also isn't going to happen for quite some time. At least with a price anywhere near MSRP.

"Available on Wrangler 4-door and Wrangler Rubicon 392 models, Xtreme Recon adds LT315/70R17C (35-inch) BF Goodrich KO2 All-Terrain Tires, 17-inch x 8-inch Beadlock Capable Wheels, 4.56:1 Axle Ratio, and 1.5-inch Factory Suspension Lift with uniquely tuned shocks.”

The bolded text seems to contradict what was previously reported. Word was the 35" package was only available on Rubicon trims. This still might be the case but that starting sentence leaves the door open for all 4 doors. Regardless, Jeep will still be a leg behind if they restrict it to only Rubicons. The Base Bronco with Sasquatch is very reasonably priced for what you get. Just ask any die hard off-road enthusiasts.

Yeah D44's with lockers is a coveted thing to have.
Plenty stout for most things and cheaper than D60's.
I have a D44 rear, D35 front on mine and wish they were both 44's...
But finding them off of a part-out is a bit of a task, and they aren't exactly cheap.
A lot of people are swapping for the 8.8 out of the Exploder but I haven't done a lot of research into those. Yet.
My D44 locker doesn't particularly like taking off in 1st on any incline/bank. I can hear it clunk like worn spider gears and it always makes me cringe.

Should be ready in about an hour.

All of the parts have already been available from the factory or through the Jeep/Mopar Catalog. You can buy all of it right now through your Jeep dealer.

This isn't new, it's just offered as a new "package". Check out Jeep media/publications from four years ago. Jeep Designer, Mark Allen reviewed most of this back in 2017.

When they designed the JL, it was designed to fit 35" tires stock (you can watch Mark Allen discuss it back in 2017) . They upgraded the JL axles for 2018 to make them stronger than the previous generation D44 (Ford is using the same axles Jeep has been using since 2018). Jeep offers a Mopar "factory" 2" lift for the JL, came out years ago. The Rubicon flares were redesigned to fit a 35" tire. They shortened the rock rails slightly, only enough to clear taller tires. The bead lock capable wheels were already available.

This isn't anything new. Jeep is offering a "package" of all of the things you could already get. The Bronco was designed to take on the JK/JL. Ford copied Jeep (the Jeep that has been out since 2018) because Jeep already offered all of these things. This isn't Jeep responding to the Ford, except to put it all right in front of your face so you see what was already offered.

Jeep denying warranty for busted axles and diffs because they didn't upgrade any of the supporting parts in 3....2....1.....
They upgraded the axles for 2018. Ford is using the same axles (except for the IFS).
