Would you extend this half way? And I haven’t seen videos yet to remove the Yakima rack. Only seen comments that it takes 10-15 mins to remove. Does it take that amount of time? My FJ has a bolted on basket rack. Therefore I have no knowledge of removing or putting a rack on.

Anyone have experience of putting on or taking off a rack? Fairly easy to take a RTT on and off of it?

I'm also curious. I guess I didn't realize having a roof rack would complicate going topless.

I’m thinking it’s like the Rhino Rack Pioneer Platform...

The silver notches where a key can be inserted to remove the rack. Then being able to remove the top.

The gray notches on this rack could have the same concept and maybe pop out to release the RTT?

Yakima is already aftermarket. And they make good parts. And for $400? Go Yakima

It wouldn't be that big of a deal. Probably 8 bolts to take it off at the factory roof rack. I'm leaning towards the lock & load as I like the low profile and I don't' need to stack a lot of weight up there having the 4-door & the tire out back instead of on the roof like my XJ.

The factory option looks good, but I would love to have the ability to rack a kayak with no roof.

Would the Lock and Load be able to hold a RTT from the pics we’ve seen? I’ve seen online it can hold up to 600lbs but I imagine that’s a larger size roof rack.

I plan on getting the factory roof rack, it looks sweet and will hold what I want. No Roof top tent for me.
Yup same here. This is all I need as far as a tent goes. Sleeps 2 (3 skinnies). The rack will carry gear/luggage for whatever the trip is.

I don't like that you have to add a rack to the top of the first rack, just to get a rtt up there.

Gotta be a way to diy additional support to the stock rack, to support a rtt.
