I don't think this has been shared here yet (at least I can't find it), someone made a short video about the lockable cargo drawer you can order from Ford. Answers all my questions and shows me that this won't work for me at all.

For one, the max load capacity of 50lb on top is pretty laughable, the fact that it doesn't fit nicely side to side is annoying and that you can only have same size cubbies in the drawer is a no go. Also looks a bit flimsy to me. A rushed design, I'm gonna wait and see what others come up with or build my own. I'd also like this to be relatively easy to remove when not needed (like 90+% of the time).

Don't know if the person that made the video is on the forum here, but I was very happy to finally find a video showing this thing in more detail, can strike it off my shopping list.

Nice info. I really wanted to like it and get one for mine, but this video made up my mind. I think I'll wait to see what aftermarket offers.

Glad to know I'm not the only one triggered by the side gaps :ROFLMAO:

Good video. Only 50lbs top load capacity, that sucks! But you could use those gaps on the side to build a frame out of 1x1s and then screw a good sheet of wood over the top. Adding braces to lay over the the top of the drawer but under the wood. Cover it all with black outdoor carpeting.. That will eliminate the gaps and increase top load capacity.

The dividers are the biggest killer for me.

true, thought about that, but that would make it even more permanent. I want something I can put in when I go on a trip, but put in the garage otherwise. I'd not have anything in there on a day to day basis.
I hope some other company makes something better thought out at a reasonable price, otherwise I'll build something myself.

Someone with a demo unit saw me in a parking lot and came over to check out my Bronco. Their demo had the drawer installed and they said it rattled real bad.

Its not something I'm looking to add but if I was, that 50 lbs limit would be a big turn off.

The 50# limit and the horrible divider design just firmly placed this on my "NO" list. Thanks for sharing the video.

For less than $100 I did a DIY wooden platform with 3/4 plywood. Fit is better, more space underneath, and with the removable support block I made I can jump up and down on it at 200+ lbs. I reattached the cargo tie down hooks and put the cargo matt and net back on top of the platform.

It's less organized as I have to move stuff around and reach into the back. It's also uglier as of right now.

But for the price, I'm super pleased with little more secure storage and will be happy to wait quite a while until the aftermarket makes something that is organized, doesn't hurt access to the jack area, allows passthrough for longer items over the rear seat, and can actually handle some weight on top.

Not really. Since it will be confined by the drawer plus the weight of build, it can just sit there. So it can be removed easily.

I've already got one to install once my Bronco gets here, but I'm not that enthusiastic about it TBH, especially after watching this video and learning about the 50-pound limit and the gaps on the side. Still waiting for my Bronco, but I may see if I can unload my drawer on Craigslist, on here, or somewhere. If anybody is reading this in NC and wants a drawer, let me know.

This seems to be barely thought out. Personally I think I'll go with slide out tail gate.

Wow this review was helpful, as I completely changed my mind on getting this lol. All the points previously made are deal breakers as far as I’m concerned. I’ll wait…./
