I’ve purchased a skid plate that utilizes the factory bolts for the transmission crossmembers (mine have been getting pretty banged up)

torque spec appears to be 77 lb/ft however there is a notation saying to replace the nuts? Anyone have experience with this, and is this truly needed?

According to Ford and other manufacturers most nuts and bolts are one time use. Me personally I reuse them just double check after a few hundred miles they are still tight.

I believe you’re describing Nylocks nuts. “Technically” they’re correct, the bolt cuts the nylon insert, which helps to hold or lock it in place.

Saying that, I have reused nylocks. Sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do.
