Great for both. Off road is Colorado mountain trails with gravel and rocks very little mud and no rock crawling. Snow and snow pack is very good. On road is smooth and relatively quiet for an all terrain tire. I'm running the 295/70r18's with a 3.5 in lift on my Jeep.
Not sure how they would do in mud, the center tread is pretty tight, thus providing the better pavement handling and quieter ride.
