I have a ‘23 Wildtrak, 4-door with 3,800 miles. I’ve recently started feeling a slight “bump” as I take off after coming to a stop. I can’t diagnose this and though it’s not terrible YET, I’m afraid this will progressively become more pronounced as time goes on. I’ve never had this thing in 4-wheel drive, nor has it been off road at all. It feels like play or slop, similar to what you might feel as a U-joint starts going out. I feel pretty helpless because my pessimistic attitude makes me think any attempt to have a tech diagnose the problem will have them thinking I’m crazy - or will have them making me think I’m crazy. I’ve been in that game before. Anyone else having a similar problem?

Lots of threads on this issue. I had a similar issue, and continued to get worse. I didn’t need to accelerate though. Just letting off the brakes did it for me. Rear driveshaft fixed it.

I think this “bump” may gradually get worse. I also think you are correct. It isn’t necessarily a function of accelerating, per the gas pedal, but that first movement once the brake is released. It’s just inconsistent. Doesn’t happen every time. I hate an intermittent problem. 🤦🏻. Thanks for the information.

Mine started as intermittent at 1000 miles. At almost 10,000 now and it’s every take off from stop. Dealer won’t do anything until Ford releases a TSB or some sort of guidance. Several threads on this, very common problem. I’ve seen claims for both front or rear driveshaft as being the issue.

It isn’t the end of the world, but it’s a sickening feeling. I love almost everything else about this remake…. I will get away from Ford if they don’t resolve this. I also have a rattle right after I start the truck. Doesn’t seem to matter if it’s cold or not. Almost sounds like something rattling underneath. Maybe some exhaust shielding. Isn’t bad, but it’s annoying. I have never owned a vehicle without some kind of annoying problem…

Damn, this just started happening to me right as I'm on my cross country road trip to Utah. It sounds like it's coming from the transfer case. hopefully it survives until I get home.

if you have a 2.3 and have never had a DI engine before, i believe it's the intake runner that you hear clacking like a tiny diesel.

It’s the 2.7 and I am familiar with that rattly sound. This is very short lived and sounds like a thin plate rattling. Maybe 1-2 seconds, then it may do it again within a few seconds, then goes away (as far as I can tell).

I have a 2dr 23' OBX SAS that has 5k miles on it. it's been doing this since 2k miles. It feels like slip bump which FMC had a bulletin on for f150's to disassemble the drive shaft, add a special lubrication on the splines at the slip yoke and reassemble. I honestly don't know how these driveshafts are designed, I haven't been under mine to see if they have a slip joint. but it feels exactly like that.
