Socal daytrip review: Pisgah Crater lava field

3 hours North East of Los Angeles, lies an interesting lava field - Pisgah crater. While being private property, there is a marked BLM trail leading towards the crater. You can drive up and around the crater, full of basalt.

The trail is located off interstate 40, off route 66 and Pisgah crater road. Free camping in BLM land, and about 1 mile of open dual track trail. Excellent for a day trip and bronco shakedown.
