Fun first run in the rocks/desert. Swore I wouldn't go wheeling until I got PPF, but c'est la vie. Got a few plastic fender desert rashes... They'll probably get a buff before PPF and PPF will hide them too.

The trail is 7 rated on onX, IIRC. Some good rocky climbs and descents, and a bit of low grip slabs.

4Runner with lift, larger tires but no lockers struggled in many places but made it with careful driving. He did get some front bumper rash. F-150 Raptor with 37s ( they don't fit well on Gen2) also struggled here and there and high centered. Not the best spotting on my behalf... Easy rescue.

The Bronco crushed everything, made it look easy. I chose good lines on the way out and then just mashed stuff coming back.

Got some very minor, nearly simultaneous rash to front control arm, rear control arm and pumpkin due to poor line choice...

Great way to break her in on Xmas Eve.

Cool stuff thanks for the pics. I'd love to venture there one day. Bit different than my area.

Two months ago a group of us were in Anza Borrego for the weekend. Before that Johnson's Valley and the San Bernadino Mountains (Big Bear), there are so many great wheeling places in SoCal, I want to do them all. Now add the Valley of the Moon.

Looking to do the Mohave Road, Afton Canyon & Joshua Tree and to go back to other places I've been, but new to the Bronco like Death Valley; so much to do & see.

I didn't last the first weekend before we got off road, even though I was hoping to get at least PPF (still haven't...). Glad you got your ride and you got some off roading in. 🎉

I wasn't too far away from you. We Explored Mica Gem Mine trail near the border and Mortero Wash and Font's Point in Anza Borrego. It is a great area.

There is a group run there in February, SDBRONCOS group on FB. Your pics make it look more difficult than it actually is😏

Overall not a particularly challenging trail, esp in my rig. There are multiple trails and in some sections multiple line choices. Sometimes folks in our small group took different lines, sometimes the easy and sometimes the harder.

I don't have PPF, but I had waiting for my Bronco Slider/steps and mudflaps, both I wanted installed before I went wheeling, and I did get those on by the first weekend and went out wheeling. The rear flaps were broken off in Moab just 2 1/2 months later, a newbie spotter, who also gave me a nice gouge on my R fender flare.

A heat gun smoothed out most of the damage, oh well.

Both my front mud flaps are cracked, but still work to protect the space between the front wheel well and where the step protection starts.
