Not sure if I mentioned this before but last fall we had our national Ford dealer meeting virtually. Ford put out video before the meeting that basically set the agenda and asked that everyone watch it. To encourage it they said for every dealer that watched the preview, their name would be entered into a drawing for an additional Bronco allocation. Well, at the end of the national meeting, guess who got drawn? Yup, that would be us.

So up until a couple of weeks ago no one, including my sales zone manager, knew how Ford was going to handle this. Was it just going to be an additional build in the first run? An additional "stock" unit some time next year? So got the call from Mark and was told we could order anything we want (except painted top) and it would be one of the first builds. I was told by one of my sales managers WBDO has our race red FE scheduled.

We are not going to be selling this even though there are no restrictions like the FCTP (loaner/mannequin) that will be arriving early. This is going to be for "show and tell" so folks that want to have butt in seat before ordering have that opportunity. Once I get more information or see progression in WBDO I will update this so my peeps in Indiana and surrounding areas can have an early opportunity to get all touchy feely and make the wait for yours that much worse. LOL

Thankful we got drawn and happy for the opportunity to have one of the first in the area for people to see, drive and why we are just darn nice people to deal with.

I wish you would have come out with your offer much sooner than you did. I certainly would have given your dealership serious consideration. Also- thanks for posting. Choosing a dealership is like dating- you either grow to love them or you move on. Great news on your Bronco!

Yay that is exciting! Will you be sending out emails to those of us who have reservations with you guys to come see it or will you post it here?

That's fantastic! Congrats on winning. I was excited when I won a $100 grubhub gift card from a virtual trade show. I can't imagine how you felt getting that news. Can't wait to see it.

Side note: did you mean Rapid Red FE? Can't get Race Red on that trim.

@bytheway Rapid. I pushed for the FE, sales mgr and brother picked out the build specifics.

@abe 17, two of those FE. We had 54 conversions which was the most in my select dlr group and over 90%. Judging by what I've seen other dealers posting on here, we should have had 20. Don't understand how a place with 4 gets 3 allocations if it's based on total conversions and overall conversion %. Seems like select dealers always get the bone when it comes to inventory however we have gotten more than our fair share of specialty stuff (GTs, GT500, SuperSnake, Shelby trucks) over the years.

That’s great! I will definitely have to come visit and check it out when it comes in sometime in July/early August. I was a 1022**** reservation number on July 14th with a January 15 order conversion, OBX A51 2.7 non Squatch high package with a tow addition. No word yet on my build date/VIN. So I’ll definitely see your Bronco before I see mine 😁 thanks for sharing!

@flip any previews this week? If sasquatch is looking like a big constraint I will probably drop it from my order. Granger said only 1 of the 25 they had preview today was sasquatch.

@bytheway We have one and it's the first one reserved by time stamp. 9 min after reservation bank opened. It's a base 2 door. It was my understanding that Ford was going to use reservation number which I thought followed reservation time stamp, apparently that might not be the case. My reservation is numerically lowest but 9th by time stamp. 3 ahead of me are 99 priority codes so pretty sure they elected for '22s.

I saw Grangers post which put everything we were told about production order for '21 into question. There could be several things in play though and remember we won't really know until May who is and isn't getting a '21. They could be scheduling this week by clean builds with specific options they have parts to build like trim, engine combos, body style etc. I can't say that for certain since we don't have access to the software they are using to schedule but my understanding is that it's very complex.

One concern I have at this point is if Granger's orders are being pulled in random order (I didn't see if he said the previews were by reservation number, time stamp or combination) and not how we were originally told. This is a huge focal point for everyone wanting a '21 right now, "am I in the window or not". If they are pulling randomly and not following reservation number or time stamp, there are going to be a bunch of honked off people. It's one thing to be forced to make changes due to commodity issues, it's another if we (dealers and customers) aren't communicated with. But again, we really won't know until some time in May who's getting built short of people getting VINs over the next 4 weeks. I can see the previews on Monday or Tuesday but have NO idea the methodology of why.

@flip just that base 2 door get a VIN this week?
flip
flip
@bytheway Yup. If they are going to have everyone notified by sometime in May, they will have to give us 3-4 every week for the next 4 weeks. If the previews show like they have been, next week's will show up Monday. At least I will have a better idea if they are actually going by time stamp, reservation # or are deviating completely from what they originally told us. Ron and the other sales guys are on top of it too and sending out emails when someone is previewed.

@flip Curious if you can see any more previews this week or if the “cleanup” is relatively small in comparison to first two weeks.

@bytheway I was out the last couple of days helping clean out a warehouse we were renting and just checked WBDO. We got zippo, zilch, nada this week. Again, I'm not really versed on the sales end of things so not sure what that really means. I'm assuming, if Ford is going to stick with the late May notification timeline and no additional constraints, we should be looking at 3-4 a week going forward. Of course not that I've said this everything will fall apart.
bytheway
bytheway
@flip Someone told me they didn't schedule any units this week because they blew through all the commodities the first two weeks.
flip
flip
@bytheway Literally on the phone with my zone rep and not loving what I heard. So the first batch of scheduling was a test run. I posted something earlier about making sure things are cleaned up by May 11 which is very important. It looks like there won't be further scheduling until the week of May 19 or there about.

First, a couple of things that are important in the very near term. If you have a priority code 19 and a compatibility issue (black painted top, dual tops or other) it either has to be fixed or changed to a 99 to be a '22 model. We are going through our list now and if you are one of those with an issue, you will be getting a call or email to confirm your wishes.

Second, anything that has a 99 priority code will be auto converted to a '22 model year by WBDO in about 30 days if nothing is changed. The big question is what happens to clean code 19s that don't get built or scheduled this year? The answer, they don't know yet. Will probably need to be redone in WBDO for '22 model but unsure if those folks would still get built ahead of those already in line for '22s. Probably will but nothing for sure either way and purely speculative. Do not quote me or blow a gasket over it.

Third, semiconductor shortage is almost definitely going to impact dealer allocation numbers. Not sure to what extent but they plan to build what they can even if it's not in order. I said in an earlier post that I didn't think this was going to be a factor since there has been no communication from Ford about Bronco impact like has been/is with other current models.

Fourth, it is my understanding is we are not going to know who is going to be a '21 until August. The May preview window will fill out June, July and August. August preview will finish out the model year. If you are a dealer and I misinterpreted this, please feel free to correct this.

Communication issues aside, Ford is at the mercy of upstream supplier problems. The only things we can control is making sure orders are correct and buildable for a shot at '21s. If people want to wait we need to verify and change it to a 99 and revisit those folks after '21 model builds stop in December.

Yikes. I can't say I'm surprised because Ford is renting space from my place of business to park trucks from KTP that are built but missing parts. That plant is shut down for 2 weeks and it's their cash cow. There are Super Dutys parked everywhere in this town that they can find space, even as far away as Kentucky Speedway an hour north of here. Would have been silly to expect the same thing not to affect Bronco.
flip
flip
@bytheway Tell me about it. Nick was looking at the locator to see what we have coming in and most of it is already sold, fleet or sitting at the plant presumably waiting for whatever module they can't get built. What bothers me is they have been upfront on the vehicle lines this is impacting with the exception of the BR. Maybe their hope is by the time full on production starts chips won't be that big of an impact OR they are scared to come out and say BR is going to get hammered and have to deal with a bunch of bad press and bitching from customers. Would rather have it straight and be able to communicate it with customers rather than constantly having to make excuses for them. While Ford has pressure from within to pull off clean, on time launches, there is a ton of pressure from customers and dealers to just get the first unit delivered.

I don't so much care if my order gets built but if they already know the chip and commodity issues are going to blow the allocation up, we need to know. Again, under promise, over deliver. The radio silence, leaks and assumption fests aren't adding points to Ford's credibility rating. Some days I love this business, some days........yea.
