Has anyone used the WA RIDE BDR for off roading in WA? It seems its geared towards motorbikes, but was wondering if our Bronco could go on these trails, too?

I haven’t done it but I do know it can easily be done. Google “jeep and Oregon or Washington backcountry discovery route” and I’m sure you’ll find trip reports.

I have done 50% to 75% of it in stages. You can definitely do it with a Bronco, every year there is different closures and washouts that change it. Most of its is on the dirt fire road difficulty as opposed to off roading.

I have a few folks who are going to do Ellensburg to Lake Chelan sometime in June once it warms up a bit and before the fire season really kicks in. Might be fun to get a few more Bronco's out there - its not a very technical trip - Did it years ago in a much less capable Tacoma - should be pretty easy in any of these Broncos.

@Tippster Nice! Would you have room for an off-road newbie?

@SuzH For sure - with this insane weather - I want it warm and no snow before heading out there. I got caught this weekend and literally got off my hiking trail and off the pass 15 minutes before they shut it all down for several hours - getting stuck out in Eastern Washington snow - not so fun :)

Its an easy drive in just about any rig. Nice and scenic. Don't go alone, you will be away from cell service.

I read about this trail several years ago (long before I ever thought I'd be getting a Bronco) and thought it sounded like a lot of fun. Now that I have one on the way, eventually, it is becoming more realistic, even if only done in stages. I live closest to stage one. I have never done anything like this, does anyone with this kind of experience think stage 1 is doable in a day? It is 100 miles, plus driving to/from the start and finish. Thanks.

@Arrmjr Possible but a long day, speeds typically range from 1-3 mph average for rock crawling and up to 10 mph for more overland routes like this. Our average moving speed was 10 mph on this route. Adding stops to eat, trees or rocks in the road etc. I would figure on 14 or so hours to do it all.

This site - is very good as well - you can download all the GPS Tracks and Routes as well as order a paper map of the entire route - strongly recommend if you are considering this in the summer - https://ridebdr.com/wabdr/
I use Garmin GPS and Maps - and they copied right over with no issues at all.
