Hi y’all! New bronco owner here looking to go on some trails in SoCal

A few of us just went to the top of Saddleback via Silverado yesterday, maybe a trip from your side of the mountain to the top, do you know any of the trails? It looks like one or two start in or near Corona, or the 91 Anaheim Hills/Green Valley area, but I haven't been to those gates.

I also would like to do Black Star Canyon and go thru Holy Jim, the water fall should be going good right now, I wished we had the time to do that yesterday, but we (girlfriend & I) had to leave the group early for Easter family fun.

Yea, I found the following link after I posted, good info on Saddleback... err now called Santiago, I didn't know they stopped using Saddleback until I read about the mountain. Old habits and such. Looks like that route I was looking for on Sat is closed, but there may be a way to get close to the falls from where we launched; they closed Modjeska gate to trucks, just hikers and bikers. Errrr.

I'd like to go to said rangers stations in link's post, Riverside's and OC's and say hi and maybe make arrangements to a get key for a locked, but open to public gate mentioned in article, for a run in the future with SoCal members and anyone else. I'm thinking show up to station with trash bags and maybe a couple of us can arrange to do a "clean up run" with members like a week later.

I'm up for a run the 22nd, that would give us time to make contact, post and make plans with members and organize the run.

Nice! I'm probably free that day. And it happens to be "Earth Day"!

Great! I didn't think of that, Earth day makes for a prefect day to clean up a bit and maybe get keys to a trail others wouldn't normally be on would be really cool. I'll look for some time this week to go talk to the rangers and post what I find out. So, anyone up for an Earth Day run on Santiago Peak, one way or another, we'll plan which gate after I go to the station.

@Arrowbear Rider, I went to the ranger station on Sat during office hours (per the interweb) and no one was there. I also waited around for a half an hour and called, no answer. I spoke with a fire guy and he said, "they're probably out on patrol, and he's hardly ever seen them on a weekend."

Makes sense with how busy the trails are on a Sat.

He also said: "And the truck was gone too."

Plus it looks like there is a run going on that weekend already so why step on their (SVC's) toes and plan something else? They are also doing a run next month across Santiago Peak too. (I had to edit, I read that wrong).

Anyone going to Moab for the Safari?

@SVCOFFROAD Planning to attend, are you meeting at the store in Lucerne? And then driving hwy 18 to the turn off at Smart Ranch Rd? If so, airing down there?

You mentioned Burns Canyon, are you going up 18 to Baldwin Lake and entering Burns Canyon from the top? Which is a trip I've been planning on making this spring, so that would be awesome.

Yes we’re meeting at the store and taking 247 to the trailhead, and then airing down. We are taking the trail to burns, and then down to pioneer town. If you sign up win the good link on the FB page. The GPX file is int there for everyone to follow.

I'll be checking out the FB link at GF's tomorrow, she already a member and has been accepted by the group too. This is her birthday trip.
