I am curious to ya’lls opinion. I’m thinking when taxes come in this year about upgrading the suspension on my Bronco. Currently I’m debating about the Bilstein 6112 kit or the Eibach Pro-Truck Coilovers Kit. I won’t be able to upgrade the wheels/tires until later in the year, but that will be the inevitable goal.

Price difference is negligible so curious as to everyone’s thoughts on performance between the two.

They're about the same. 6112's are a 2.5" vs 2: I believe. Eibach are relatively easy to adjust height and offer decent flex. My eibachs feel pretty similar to stock sas on the road while the 6112s felt softer to me. Eibach does offer the heavier spring rates as well if you need it.

@Gene Dios I’m curious as to your take on softness, everything I’ve read says the Eibach are less stiff than the bilsteins. At speed and off road the stock shocks feel nice currently, but at low speeds (driving around the neighborhood) any small bump feels like the whole thing rocks. That’s honestly what I’m trying to improve on.

@TheI3lindMan eibach were just slightly softer than stock sas on mine but overall pretty similar going down the road. I've heard the same stiffness comparison but the 6112s I've rode in seemed noticeably softer to me. Fluke maybe 🤷 I think they're both good.

So... I struggled with this question on my first Bronco. Figured I'd be spending anywhere from $2000-3500, maybe more to do it right. And with that I still wouldn't have the advanced 4x4, lockers in the front or back, lower gearing better for offroading, or the heavy duty rack or the M210 front axle. And taking the thought a bit further, I'd have no benefit to the resale value, if it ever came to that. So I instead took the $3k and upgraded my Bronco from an non-SAS OBX to Badlands SAS.

In my case, it was a matter of personal preference. But I'm sure your truck will ride great with the Bilsteins if you go that route. They're tried and true.

So my OBX has the rear lockers, which is why I’m thinking going this route

I went with the Eibach pro kit and Sone upper control arms. I’ve been really impressed with the ride quality over the bilsteins while on the same Sasquatch tires. Panda Motorworks had a good deal if you reach out to them directly for a combo price better than their website lists.

@TheI3lindMan if you're installing a full on coilover set like the eibach, it's not that difficult. Definitely need space, time, tools, and some tall jackstands.

If you're swapping springs it gets more involved and a little sketcher

@Gene Dios Ya i think that’s why I’m leaning toward Eibach…currently I’m looking at ~600 in labor for either option, thinking I can make a trip to Harbor Freight and buy the tools I need for less then that. That said haven’t exactly factored in the time/stress I would take to do the job verses just have someone else do it in an afternoon.

@TheI3lindMan a group of us did the install, it wasn’t too difficult but having all the right tools to torque everything to spec is crucial. It took most of a day just taking our time, but If I had to do it again and could find a shop willing to do it for a reasonable price I’d probably go that route for simplicity. Having the coilovers pre assembled and not needing to remove springs from the Bilsteins was a big time saver.

Am I the only one that's more curious of how to get a refund from the irs? 🤔

If I was you I'd be pressing for new tires (and I guess wheels) over the suspension. The OBX street tires are gonna get you stuck in mud regardless of your suspension.

I have some badlands take offs that I've been to lazy to actually install. But looking at just doing them when I knock out the jump to 35s.

@Rspayde I won’t be running the street tires for long, plan is to do the coilover upgrade first, some time in the next month, and then swap over to Method 703 (machine clear coat) and KO3s/Toyo R/T trail or similar…specific tires are still up for debate and I will probably asks the groups thoughts once I’m there. The wheel/tire upgrade probably wont be until mid to late summer though.

If anyone is thinking of doing a coilover upgrade soon wouldn’t mind joining forces similar to what @FSUMcFly did.
