I did it! Just signed on mine. Went 2 dr BD, 2.3/7spd, advanced 4x4, cactus gray, Steelies . Only things I added was roof rack, tow pkg and brush guard. Bikini top is not available yet. Had a build sheet for a BL as well and as great as that would have been, I couldn’t justify the extra money right now. Considering with the granger discount I’m rolling out the door under 40k, I think I’m doing alright. It’s more equipped out the door than any of the wranglers I’ve wheeled over the years, so I still feel pretty good with where I’m at with it, plus, I’m not gonna lie.... I like the blue trim better than the orange ?

Judging by the numbers, I’m firmly in the first 30%, so I should have a decent delivery time. I FEEL WEIRD. ITS REALLY HAPPENING.

So 2.3?

@ArrickSports yep. I had myself talked into a 2.7/10 spd for about 15 minutes and then Ford decided to charge for the auto (it’s double dipping to me, but whatever), so once it pushed me getting mid out of price range where I was comfortable, I said screw it and went back to the 7 speed. I can add heated seats and remote start myself later on, which was all I wanted anyways. I’ll probably get the Ford tune at some point to get some better numbers out of the 2.3, but I still think it’s gonna surprise a lot of people.

@Gr8Hortoni my problem is I drive so many miles that I really don't want a four banger

@ArrickSports the way they are geared I don’t think it would make it an issue. Just my thought. I’m going into this planning on owning this thing until I or it physically stops moving, once it’s paid off it’ll be strictly a toy and I’ll get a new dd. I think with the ease of upgradable power that the 2.3 is capable of, it’ll feel stronger than most 4 cylinders. For me the torque limits of the trans is the only downside, but it can still handle very a respectable number for Hp and tq for what I do.

I was on the fence, you will be happy with the 2.3, its a stout motor. The only thing I would do is ad a catch can. The DI issue is real, but can be avoided and minimized. I was talking to a power train engineer (supplier, not manufacturer) about it last week, he specializes in emissions and he agrees the issue is real too (with all DI engines). He mentioned the oil overflow issue and his initial take was it is a cold start issue and it is pretty localized. It is also not limited to Ford or the 2.3, its the latest round of emissions compliance that is forcing some really aggressive cold start "settings" that are amplified by DI. I think its pretty well documented that GFI-6 (I think) oil and catch can are pretty good insurance. I would haze zero problem pulling the trigger on one.

@Mattwings I’ll have that ordered before I even take delivery. I feel like the catch can is a must. If it’s anything like the one for the exploder it’s a $150 investment and probably 30 minutes to install even for a novice.

@Mattwings My one concern with catch can is my Bronco will be living outdoors 365, and I've heard some concerns - not entirely sure how real they may be - about moisture collecting and freezing in wintry conditions.

@etmccaus86 I suppose anything is possible. Maybe empty it weekly in the winter?

Have you seen the videos on adding it to the Ranger? It is the #1 reason my son doesn't have one yet. The connection is low and hard to get to (if you use the factory connectors). I may tell him he has to have it done by a shop. The oil change is not bad btw. Take note, the original factory filter and the Motorcraft replacement part use slightly different size filters and getting it off without the right wrench is a bitch!!!!!! You don't have to, but I did take the wheel off, I have an impact and it was in the air already.

Just a couple days ago you were going BL! Even got the presentation for it approved by the boss right? Congratulations man. I think I'm going to be relegated to a MY22 whether I want to get one or not due to my later reservation.

@gamma_j you’re not wrong. Getting permission and paying for it is 2 separate things. ? Just decided to be financially responsible. With my down payment my payment is under $400 a month. I can live with that. Lol. As much as I wanted the extra equipment, I couldn’t do it. I may regret it later on, but it gives me room to build and grow with it.

Congrats! Have yet to hear from Granger but imagine I'm quite a ways down their list...

Granger is $1,000 under invoice with an additional $300 for x-plan correct? I only ask because I want to have Varsity match the best deal I could conceivably get.

Correct. If you get anything less than Msrp consider it a victory, especially after seeing some starting with the markup BS.

Any word on delivery yet?

I was previewing back the week for Memorial Day, then nothing since. Getting pretty frustrated.

That sucks. This whole rollout has been a disaster for Ford
