Hello All,

Quick question. I posted this on the forums, but wanted to get your opinion.

With MD type of weather, is the 4A worth it?

I’m guessing if I do add it, it will also push my Bronco back even more. It’s a 2-door, so, it’s already delayed.

Thank you.

I’ve only used it a few times in snow and ice, we live off of some bad roads. It’s awesome so far though. Unlike auto 4wd I’ve used in other vehicles, it feels very planted. I tried getting the bronco the break loose purposely and it takes quite a bit.

I think so... If you get a chance to sign up for the off-roadeo, it's a solid display/hands-on of the capabilities and limitations. I would think this last months worth of weather has definitely proven that, at least, a 4WA is worth it.

The off-roadeo reinforced my decision, and also made me elect to get lockers and change to a SAS edition. Not trying to do any HARD wheeling but I do want to start to build an overlander, for sure.

Cheers

I believe our builds are pretty similar. I'm getting green 2dr BD 2.3 Auto with Mid and 4A. I won't change my order to get it sooner. Why settle? I've had 4A in a couple vehicles and I like that it does all the thinking for me.

My opinion when using words like 4A, 4WA, auto 4WD, etc, for those of us that are still learning and trying to understand, perhaps add an explanation of some type of what these things mean/are and what we are trying to accomplish. Some of us need things explained with some extra help. It would be helpful to us all to have more details. As an example I wish someone would do a kindergarten explanation of lockers, disconnects, etc so I understood the point and purpose.
I still love all of you......

I'll start.
The Advanced 4WD system allows the user to select 4A (4WD Auto) and the vehicle can be driven anywhere. Highway, dirt road, snow, dry pavement... The vehicle will automatically determine when and if 4WD or 2WD is needed. Meaning when to engage the front axle.. The Advanced 4WD system is 4WD. It is not an AWD (All Wheel Drive) system. Very similar in operation, but different in configuration and durability. The 4WD Auto is a transfer case using the computer to engage and disengage the front axle. The standard transfer case also offered in the Bronco requires the driver to determine when and where they want to engage the front axle. This is done by push button or GOAT mode selection.

Great! Now me and @MrJoe might have the exact same Bronco and @NayNay may yell at me when I contact her to add 4A to my order 🤣
