For those in the Knoxville area.
Just spoke with Dan Varner of Ray Varner ford.
Nothing over invoice. He doesn't know about Xplan yet.
They have a fee of $399.
So price = invoice + 399 + tax

He will let me know if he finds out about Xplan.

I'm not sure what all is in the $399. But i know almost all dealers have some fees and some states even have fees that are always there. So I guess technically it is 399 over invoice.

Edit: text back and forth with Dan Varner yesterday. I used MSRP in error. He said invoice. Just my lack of knowledge about car buying. Didn't even realize they were different.

So he said what ever price ford sets is the price it will be +399+tag/tax

In the Tri-cities I spoke with Fairway Ford and they too will do MSRP. He didn’t mention any other fees however to be fair I failed to ask. Thanks for this info as I will reach back out to them. No word on Xplan yet either.

Profit is what the $399 is. Additional profit.

I still think I may change my two reservations to Granger Ford in IA. I mean I wouldn’t if I didn’t work in the Midwest. I travel there often anyway. And they confirmed with X Plan 1300 dollars under Invoice. That’s big when compared to MSRP. With work paying for my trip there .....save some big money.

Thank you. I’ll check into this as well.

fyi xplan caps doc fees at $100. this is outside destination fee which is mandatory and taxes, etc. If the local dealers are not willing to work closer to 1000 under invoice, just move it to Stephens Auto, its a 5 hour drive.

Agree. I’ve been following the thread on the main group. John from Stephens is looking into that fee. Everyone thinks he is mistaken about the WV law and x plan clearly states capped document fee @$100 and dealer submits reimbursement to ford for any state mandated costs over the $100. I think they will work it out. I’ll most likely be switching to Stephens Auto.

I'm probably be moving mine to them as well. Going to give my local dealership a shot at matching or coming close. Move to Stephens will be easy as my wife is from WV and we can visit family in the new Bronco.
