New England Broncos

Group for people in New England to talk, show off, and go off roading
Maineah
Gave my nephew an off-roading day as a birthday present and went out this past weekend. I'm a noob with no off-roading friends so had to figure out where to go - which isn't easy as a lot of noobs are finding out. Figured I'd share for others like me trying to wheel without knowing where to go. If we can't trust those on this site not to ruin it for others, who can ya trust?

-I found a decent enough youtube channel that shows trails all over NH. While they usually label the road, I used THIS ONE which they didn't include names as inspiration for the trip since it was close to me and nephew.
-Thanks to @Combustion_King, I then used the NH DOT Roads site to investigate official class VI roads in that area.
-I planned a route that looked best but had back up plans if roads were gated, off limits, didn't exist, etc.
-Since one of the roads was gated (Little Niagara), we improvised a little but had an awesome time!
-The path we ended up using is below and we came in from Wingate Road (Strafford) which will point you straight at Snackerty Road.

Since my only off-road frame of reference is exploring logging roads in NE Maine last summer and the NH Off-Roadeo, I don't really know how to label the route in terms of difficulty. The Bronco (BD sasquatch) had no problem with any of it but I thought the final road - Haywagon - was AWESOME. It had everything, mud puddles, inclines, declines, bedrock slabs, loose rock, boulders, etc.

The only thing to be wary of is a "bridge" on Snackerty rd. My brother and I spent about 30 minutes "fixing" it by re-arranging some logs. It was sketchy as hell but held the weight.

Have fun out there and I hope this inspires others to share their NH or ME routes!

The gated roads, if they are class 6, are open, the gates are there to deter people from
Using the roads, or private property owner put them up for whatever reason, but if you look into it, the class 6 roads are public, and it will
Say some are gated, you just need to close them after.

You're an awesome Auntie for giving him a great birthday gift and exposing him to off roading. You also helped those of us noobs who don't know of any trails but are willing to get out there and wheel responsibly! Keep being awesome and take care.

You drove a $50,000 truck over that thing! I’m impressed!

Thanks for posting this …I’m in the same boat -not a lot of experience but will be looking for places to go that are easy-moderate in difficulty. Hopefully as more Broncos are shipped into New England we’ll have some meet ups and off-road events. I went out to Moab in May for Off-Roadeo and it was awesome!
