Headed up to silver lake this weekend with the family and the Jeeps. It’s my first time not as a passenger so I have been in the dunes but never driven. Anyone have any last minute tips. I have looked over some in here but there was like 2 replies. I’ll be airing down to like 18 psi. I’m in a Wildtrak. Also should I ditch the spare and its extra weight or no worries?

Sounds like an awesome trip is headed your way! Can’t wait to hear about it and what you learned. I’m hoping to make that my next adventure, so I could use some tips as well.

@STONEWALKER Definitely nervous the first pass, legs shaking just a little bit but smooth sailing after that. It never struggled even a little bit. Took a bunch of friends and made sure each got to go for a ride.

I would suspect the extra weight shouldn't be an issue. Sand mode, and 18 psi should do ya well.

No worries on the spare. Drive the big Dunes at full high speed until 7/8 the way up and then father the throttle to get over. Careful not to have too much speed when cresting. Better to not make it and back down the Dune then jump it. Have fun!

Glad you had fun, I was busy last week and weekend and didn’t check in.
